Holy Family Parish Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes – November 29, 2016
Attendees: Father Gaudy, Greg Brown, Todd Solomon, Joe Kelly, Mike Jakubec, Mike O’Brien, Alex Spear, Bill Shannon, Beverly Manlove, Pastoral Associate Alfie Martinez-Coyle, and Glenn Rodriguez
General: The new PPC members, Mike O’Brien, Mike Jakubec, and Joe Stefonowich were acknowledged and welcomed. The September Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) meeting minutes were reviewed and approved via email and are posted on the parish website. The following PPC members were elected for 2016-17 positions:
· Chairperson: Bill Shannon
· Vice-Chairperson: Todd Solomon
· Secretary: Beverly Manlove
Outgoing PPC members Greg Brown, Kathy Staskin and Brian Alexander were recognized for their service to PPC.
Old Business:
· PPC Nomination Process/Election/Commssioning/Decommissioning:
o Add block to nomination form to accommodate candidate’s photo for ease of scanning.
o Larger number of parishioners voted this year, possibly due to voting extending over 2 weekends.
o Small percentage of voters did not sign ballots, so votes were not counted. Next year add line to bottom of ballot to the effect that “only signed ballots are counted”.
o Positive feedback given on commissioning ceremony. Next year, reading to be given to incoming members prior to day of commissioning.
· Living Our Mission (LOM) Campaign: As of 11/22/2016, Holy Family has received $352,305.37 back from the Diocese. A total of $19,197.50 has been paid to project invoices.
· Town Hall Meeting November 10, 2016 feedback: Well attended. Notes posted to website. Most comments concerned the kitchen (size, flooring, etc.) These suggestions will be considered by building committee.
· Building Committee/ Facilities Update: See attached document.
· Upcoming PPC Retreat: Program outline presented by Bill Shannon:
o Date: Saturday, January 21, 2017 8AM- 2 PM
o Location: Fort Story Chapel and meeting room
o Program: Called to Serve
o Speaker: Brent Pitre via You Tube on the topic of “Jesus and the Jewish Roots of the Eucharist”
o PPC Agenda for upcoming year
o Mass
o Working Lunch/PPC January meeting
o Final Prayer
New Business:
· PPC Roster: All members present verified contact information.
· Name tags: New PPC members can pick up name tags on Sunday, December 4th. It is requested that PPC members wear their name tags to all parish functions, to identify themselves to all members of COTHF parish.
· New Member Orientation: Conducted by Greg Brown for Mike Jakubec and Mike O’Brien. Alfie will set up VIRTUS training for new PPC members.
