Attachment 2 – Water and Energy Savings and Green House Gas Calculations

West Basin’s Cash for Kitchens (C4K) Program (Program) will help reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and conserve both water and energy. West Basin used the approved Quantification Methodology, ARB’s GHG Calculator Tool, to estimate GHG emission reductions, energy savings, and water savings for the program. Below are the final estimated savings that will be achieved through the implementation of the Program:

Water Savings

Through this Program, West Basin is seeking to conserve 646 Acre-Feet of water over the life of the devices described in the Program, with an annual water savings of over 75 Acre-Feet per year.

Energy Savings (KWh and Therms)

By directly installing 150 Air Cooled Ice Machines, 1,000 Faucet Flow Restrictors, and 400 Pre-Rinse Spray Valves, along with assisting at least 20 facilities with connectionless steam cooker rebate applications, this Program will conserve over 34,000 megawatt hours of energy and 1,128,000 therms over the entire Program life.

GHG Savings

Calculations show that 6,570Metric Tons of Carbon Dioxide Equivalent can be saved through this Program. The GHG savings were calculated using the ARB’s GHG Reduction Calculator for the Department of Water Resource’s Water-Energy Grant Program.

ARB GHG Calculator Tool – Changes to Default Values

The following default values were changed in the ARB’s GHG Calculator Tool to arrive at the water, energy, and GHG emissions reductions calculated for this Program. Explanations for the changes are included below, and supporting documents for device specifications are included in the pages that follow.
