Athletic Director’s Report (J. Parcells)

·  Ongoing Spring Sport Update

o  Golf – P. Parrish and T. Graham will represent DS in the Boy’s 2016 NE Golf Tournament at Brettwood Country Club in Keene, NH

o  Golf – W. McCabe will represent DS in Girls 2016 State Championship at Eastward Ho CC in Chatham, MA

o  Boy’s Lax – playoffs ongoing, vs Weston Tues, 5pm

o  Boys’ Tennis – playoffs ongoing at Medway, opponent TBD

o  Track and Field

§  Saturday - Decathlon (5 DS members). Mia van der Burgt will be participating in Div 4 Girl’s Triple Jump at New England Championships .

·  Upcoming 2016/2017 School Year

o  Meet the Coach Night Aug 22nd (all sports)

§  Pre-meeting with AD will only be held Aug 22nd. Subsequent season meetings will be “Meet the Coaches” only.

o  Family ID

§  Open for fall 2016 registrations, payments cannot be made until after July 1st.

§  Reminder will be sent to parents

§  $300/sport with $1500 cap

o  Fall Sports

§  Football begins August 19th

§  All other Fall sports begin Monday, August 25th.

·  Travel Protocol Revision

o  Parent may remove child from away game location if:

§  Game is concluded

§  Notify team coach

§  Another child may be taken by a parent but not friend, coach must be notified in writing by parent.

·  Captain’s Practices

o  School will not authorize organized Captain’s practices per MIAA rules

o  Students may play “pick up” games only. No coach allowed.

·  Coach Evaluations

o  AD has all coaches do self evaluation

o  All Varsity Coaches met with, JV coaches – partial

o  Coaches checklist – quizzed periodically on safety protocol.

2016/2017 Team Schedule Update

§  Fall season is complete with exception of field hockey

§  Homecoming Weekend will be October 21st and 22nd

Treasurers Report - T. Britt

·  Account Signatories updated to reflect current Board

·  Current accounts transitioning to Needham Bank from Bridgewater Credit Union

o  working on detailed P&L statement

·  Tax Return to be done by T. Britt, a certified CPA. This will save 2-3K/year.

·  League Athletics website subscription has been extended for one more year.

Standing Committees

·  Website Project – K. Wellman

o  AD/DSHS will be providing new school athletic website that will include Team Pages and Team Communication capabilities.

o  New DS Booster’s Site Features

o  New site targeted completion Sept 2017

§  Current email database is valuable for marketing and Booster’s Blasts. Interest in preserving this database.

o  Website Committee looking for participant volunteers.

·  Raider’s Rack – K. Marken

o  Gross receipts to date, 39.4K, target for year is 40K

o  Fall merchandise ordered, shipments have begun to arrive.

o  Raider’s Rack will be at Dover Music Fest on Saturday, 6/11 2-8pm

o  Rack making preparations for summer storage, inventory will be insured.

·  Membership – S. Muckstadt

o  Fall registration will begin tentatively August 1st.

·  Funding Committee – B. Scatchard

o  Committee is open for additional volunteers

§  M. Lancaster expressed interest

o  Yearly approved funding requests average 25-35K. If needs warrant, total could be higher.

·  Concessions – C. Hall

o  Snack Shack open for select spring sporting events, snack shack volunteers are staffing low volume spring events.

o  Lottery selecting 12 teams randomly held. First ten teams to agree to volunteer at the snack shack will receive profit sharing.

o  Snack shack will be coordinating breakfast for Triathlon, if interested in volunteering, please contact Coryn Hall.

·  Gates – No report at this time

New Business

·  Frank Perlmutter’s Funeral Arrangements

o  Boosters Board mourns the passing of Frank Perlmutter, former DS Boosters President. Flowers were delivered from DS Boosters to family.

o  Information has been emailed via “Booster Blast” to entire DS Booster community. Wake - Tuesday, 6/7 4-8pm at Doherty Funeral Home, Wellesley. Memorial Service to be held at Mudge Auditorium/Lindquist Commons Wednesday, 6/8 at 3:30pm

o  Tribute to Frank video “Let’s be Frank” was included in email blast, Booster’s Facebook page and will be available at Wake and Memorial Service.

·  Next Generation Recruiting Event – L. Wood

o  Held on April 25th. Event was a success with several new faces joining the DS Booster board meeting today.

o  Event feedback was positive.

·  Booster’s Golf Outing Fundraiser - B. Scatchard

o  Inaugural event raised 20K, a tremendous success!

o  Feedback recommendations

§  improve sponsorship numbers and increase silent auction items and variety.

§  Separate gift for men vs. women participants

§  Tournament will be held in Spring 2016

·  Triathlon Fall 2016 – C. Robbins

o  New sponsorship received from Needham based “nest type” security company.

o  To be held on Sunday, Sept 18th

o  Registration currently open, reminders will be sent to former participants.

o  Booster Email blasts will also be utilized to advertise event.
