Athletes Against Hunger

The Knight's Code of Chivalry states: all knights should protectothers who can not protect themselves.Knights use their power to protect the weak and defenseless. Knights vowed to be loyal and generous. Knights lived by honor and for glory. Key words that define a knight are courage, loyalty, duty, and honor.

During the week of October 21st, teams of the Stoughton Black Knight community will compete in a friendly competition in support of the Stoughton Food Pantry. Team members are asked to bring non-perishable food items to school to be donated to the food pantry.

Each team will receive a percentage score that equals the number of items donated by that specific team divided by the number of players for that sport. For example, if the field hockey teams donate 87 items and there are 76 total field hockey players we would say that field hockey gives 114% in the fight against hunger.

To level the playing field, each team’s score will be based on a percentage related to the number of athletes in that program. So if everyone on a team donates one item we would say the team gives 100% in the fight against hunger. Each team will consist of every level in that sport, so volleyball will consist of freshmen, JV, and varsity levels. The same would be true for football and field hockey. Soccer teams will be comprised of the JV and varsity levels. Cross-country, cheerleading, and golf would be single level sports.

Donations will be dropped off in the cafeteria each morning and team scores will be tallied. At the end of the week, total team scores will be determined and the team with the largest percentage will be declared the winner. That team will receive a special award for being the team that fought the hardest in the fight against hunger.
