EXTRA CREDIT: In addition to the regular on-going extra credit opportunities

NATURAL HIGH:

Create a video at least 5 minutes long demonstrating and explaining your “natural high” that must be played for the class and modeled after the natural high videos you saw in class. Worth 50 points towards a project grade IF it follows the same format as the real videos and explains why this activity keeps you drug free

BOOK REPORT: On the “general overview” topic page of the Unit, there is a PDF book called, "A Better High" How

Eating, Laughing and Other Stuff Can Get You High Naturally, Everyday = Matt Bellace, Ph.D.. .

Read the PDF book and write a review about it using the current event reflection directions. Worth 50 points towards a project

FIND A VIDEO: Find a truthful video NOT currently on the website that explains the negative effects of using drugs

and send link to Mr. Corabi with a really quick review of video. Worth 10 points per video added to projects category

PARENT/GUARDIAN INTERVIEW: This is a sensitive topic. Use discretion if selecting it

Interview a parent/guardian concerning their view points and experiences with drugs.

Ask any 4 questions you want and questions may include :

1) Do you know anyone where drugs took over their lives? Can you share their story with me

2) What are your view points on the legalization of Marijuana?

3) Have you ever known anyone who overdosed while using drugs?

4) Do you know anyone who uses drugs to “escape” or cope with life’s pressures? Explain

5) If you ever abused drugs of any kind and are now clean, can you share your story with me?

You may think up your own questions as well.

What to turn in? Create a one paragraph summary of your interview session including your thoughts and feelings BEFORE and then AFTER. Worth 50 points towards a project category

EC “CLASSWORK”: Go on to our class website. View and video, read any article, do any activity that we did not do in class concerning the current topic(s). Write notes from the activity including the main idea and summary. Send me the source as well. 3 points added per activity (4 = more than 1 full day of class participation)
