JOB DESCRIPTION

ASUW Marketing Internship – Due December 1 st

The ASUW Director of Marketing Assistant serves ASUW, and theExecutive team in particular, reportingto the Director of Marketing. The position is supervised by the Program Coordinator (Advisor), Accountant, as well as any other staff member working in the office. The intern is appointed by the ASUW Director of Marketing, Chief of Staff, and President. This position is unpaid, but does qualify for internship credit through the Johnson Career Center (JCC). During the fall semester (September through December) or spring semester (December through May) for which they serve, the ASUW Marketing Intern may receive up to 2 credit hours per semester.

Minimum Qualifications

•Must be an enrolled student of the University of Wyoming throughout the term of employment

•Currently have a cumulative GPA of no less than the university mandated minimum GPA to graduate in their current major, and maintain that minimum throughout the term of the internship

Desired Qualifications

•Content Management Systems Training (CMS introduction)

•Graphic design experience(most notably, Adobe Illustrator)

•Knowledge of institutional marketing

•Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

•Experience with social media platforms

General Responsibilities

The ASUW Marketing Intern shall:

  1. Work 5-12 hours a week, schedule to be coordinated with the ASUW President and the ASUW Director of Marketing
  2. Manage ASUW content and design via Adobe Suite and Cascade
  3. Meet with the ASUW Director of Marketing on a weekly basis to discuss current and future projects/goals
  4. Provide advice and researched opinions when necessary to the Director of Marketing and the ASUW President.
  5. Maintain a careful watch on all social media platforms run by ASUW Student Government (this includes, but is not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Guidebook, and Snapchat)
  6. Maintain the Website so that it is functional and aesthetically pleasing
  7. Conduct oneself in a professional and respectable manner
  8. Publically support the agenda and mission of the ASUW Student Government and Executive Branch

Specific Responsibilities

1.Assist with the efforts to market ASUW programs and events

2.Restructure and update the ASUW, Freshman Senate, Student Legal Services, and United MultiCultural Council websites to improve design and user friendliness, fix broken links and ensure ADA compliance

3.Design posters, flyers, videos, and apparel for ASUW and its programs

4.Assist the Director of Marketing to develop and update all ASUW publications, pamphlets and forms

5.Assist the Director of Marketing to create and maintain a consistent brand for ASUW on all formal publications

6.Create posters and other promotional materials as needed for all ASUW branches, programs, and services

7.Actively research and discover new forms of communication and advertisement

8.Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned

I hereby grant the UW Dean of Students Office permission to provide verification of my grade point average, hours carried, and the lack of any judicial record to the Assistant Dean of Students as the ASUW Advisor to ensure that the ASUW Constitutional requirements are not violated. This release remains in effect as long as I serve as an appointed member of ASUW at the University of Wyoming. (Members of the ASUW shall not be eligible to serve as a representative of the ASUW Executive, Legislative, or Judicial branches if they have committed acts which compromise their integrity as a student leader and representative of the ASUW or on conduct probation through the Dean of Students office).
