Association of Cancer Physicians (ACP) Oncology Prize

Applications are invited for the ACP Undergraduate Medical Student Essay Prize in Oncology.

Cancer is responsible for 1 in 4 deaths in the UK, and at the 2011 UN Health summit declared one of the 4 most important global health challenges including in developing countries. This annual award has been established by the Association to stimulate interest in oncology and recognise excellence in cancer research.

Prize: £200 + a free place on the Imperial College London “Practical Introduction to Oncology” course.


The winner will be invited to the ACP annual general meeting at the NCRI Cancer Conference to be presented with their certificate and the essay will be published on the ACP website (www.cancerphysicians.org.uk).

Open to: All UK medical students.

Submission requirements:

Applicants are invited to submit a report on a laboratory or clinical research project on cancer, OR an essay on a topic of their choice based around one of the following themes:

·  Cancer Prevention

·  Cancer Detection

·  Cancer Treatment

The report/essay should be no longer than 1,500 words with references in the Vancouver style.

Submissions should be accompanied by a letter of support from the Dean, and is limited to 2 submissions per medical school. Submissions will be judged by a panel of three ACP assessors, and their decision will be final.

Deadline for submission: April 12th 2013. Results will be announced in June.

Applications are invited for the Association of Cancer Physicians (ACP) Postgraduate Essay Prize in Oncology.

This annual award has been established by the Association to stimulate interest in oncology and recognise excellence in cancer research.
