International contribution:

a. International Short Courses:

I organized a short course entitled”A practical method for immobilization and de-immobilization of freshwater algae, with special emphasis on applied significance of immobilized algae in toxicity screening and ecotoxicological studies”. The course was accepted and secheduled for SETAC Europe 15th Annual Meeting, 22-26 May 2005, Lille, France. Unfortunately, the course was cancelled by SETAC due to the limited number of the registered attendees.Weak points related to the preparation and to the final direction of the course were emphasized and were taken into consideration.

b. International Conferences: Session proposal:

I proposed a session entitled “Algae as reliable indicators of environmental health”. The session was merged and given the title” Macrophytes and algae in ecotoxicology” Code ES7,SETAC Europe 16th Annual Meeting, 7-11 May 2006. The Hague, The Netherlands,

International recognition:

  1. I have been nominated for the SETAC Europe Council Memebership 2006. Some information are given below.
  2. I have been invited as key speaker at Algae Biofuel Summit, 17 – 19 September 2008, New Delhi, India, I will deliver a keynote speech about researches on freshwater microalgae as renewable feedstock of biodiesel industry.

Conferences Attended. Active participant in a number of international conferences, e.g. 1). The International Conference of the International Association of Water Quality on “Hazard Assessment and Control of Environmental Contaminants in Water”, June, 29-30, 1995, Copenhagen.

2).SETAC Europe 15th Annual Meeting, 22-26 May 2005, Lille, France.

3). SETAC Europe 16th Annual Meeting, 7-11 May 2006. The Hague, The Netherlands, Abs. No. 1669, Abs. code WE3/Y1/P14, Session: ES7).

4).Algae Biofuel Summit, 17 – 19 September 2008, New Delhi, India, I will deliver a keynote speech about researches on freshwater microalgae as renewable feedstock of biodiesel industry.

5). The5th SETAC World Congress, Protecting our Global Environment, from 3rd to 7thAugust 2008,Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre, Sydney Australia. The contribution title is : Assessment of spatial recovery of toxic industrial effluent using algal bioassays, changes in algal communities, and chemical characteristics.

Seminars held abroad.A number of lectures have been presented during my visits to Norway, Sweden and Japan.
