Summary

The Associate Director of Prospect Research and Relationship Management reports to the Director of Advancement Services and serves as an integral part of the Institutional Advancement team. This position has a leadership role in the identification, qualification, and research of prospects. This position is responsible for defining, implementing and managing the process for assigning and tracking donors and donor prospects to ensure maximum outcomes for the College’s fundraising priorities. This position also plays a critical role in managing and analyzing prospect and donors pools of the college. This position requires the ability to gather, summarize, and disseminate large volumes of information from numerous sources; interpret biographical and financial information on prospects, corporations and foundations; to make recommendations for solicitation strategies; to analyze through the use of descriptive statistics information on donor/prospect segments, to attend events and engagements as required; and to compose prospect briefings and profiles.

This position will oversee the Prospect Research and Relationship Managementoffice, including the oversight and management of full-time staff and student workersthat will report to this position. The office of Prospect Research and Prospect Management is responsible for proactively gleaning information that will inform fundraising approaches on key funding initiatives and will help to identify prospects for these projects. This position also requires a good understanding of fundraising, Relationship Management, and analysis as well as a commitment to data integrity. The ability to think analytically and intuitively in a fast-paced environment is key.This position supports the offices of Major and Gift Planning and Alumni and Parent Engagement as well as the Vice President of Institutional Advancement and the office of the President.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 – 5 years of professional research and Relationship Management experience, preferably within higher education or similar environment. Candidates must possess outstanding prospect research skills and the ability to interpret business and financial data as well as experience in producing high-level analyses about development related questions. Requires well developed interpersonal skills and the availability to attend evening and weekend engagements. Requires ability to handle multiple assignments with minimum supervision while meeting strict deadlines in a fast paced environment with the ability to multi-task and think analytically and intuitively is important. Must have excellent writing skills and be detail-oriented and accurate. Extensive computer experience required, including database knowledge and online prospect research skills (e.g. WealthEngine, Lexis-Nexis, etc.) and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of statistical software is helpful. A Bachelor’s degree is required.
