12-Month Position
The College of Business, Education, and Human Development (CBEHD)seeks applications for the position of Associate Dean to begin July 1, 2018. The position is a 12-month administrative appointment with a faculty affiliation in the most closely related department. This position has a one course per semester teaching assignment.
In addition to supporting the Dean in the leadership of the CBEHD, this position will include responsibilities in internal operations of college with a special emphasis on maintenance of accreditation for those currently held (SACS-COC, AACSB, CAEP, and CEPH), support for the pending CACREP review, and support for candidacy of other potential specialized accreditation sought by the academic units. The Associate Dean will be expected to gather, analyze, and report on data needed by the accrediting bodies that may not be currently available or may be insufficient for reporting needs. Annual Assurance of Learning for all programs in the college will be supported and coordinated by this office, including AOL data collection, analysis, and reporting. In addition to AOL, these activities will support any annual accreditation reporting, maintenance of accreditation visits, initial accreditation needs, and reports needed by State governing agencies. In particular, the Associate Dean will annually collect data of outcome measures regarding placement, alumni data, student engagement data, impact measures, and other data as necessary for reporting and maintenance of accreditation.
Furthermore, the Associate Dean will facilitate a number of strategic initiatives for the college in consultation with the Dean, Department Chairs and Program Directors. In particular, this position will coordinate, plan and implement a number of programs that enhance the profile of the University regionally. The programs include events that bring local students to campus, speaker series, contests, training opportunities for community partners, and events that provide hands on activities for students for CBEHD programs. In support of this goal, the Associate Dean may represent the College at local events or serve on nonprofit boards. This position is the first point of contact in the Dean’s Suite for addressing student conduct and complaints. The Associate Dean will have an important role in inventory control for the college. During registration and up to the start of classes, the Associate Dean will prepare exception reports for the Dean for deviations in prescribed faculty teaching loads, under enrolled class sections, and unnecessary duplication of sections. In consultation with the Dean, the Associate Dean may be requested to work with the Chairs and Directors to resolve scheduling conflicts between programs that delay timely completion of degrees and to assure efficient classroom utilization. Annually, the Associate Dean will review the graduate faculty list to determine which faculty may need to be renewed.
Requirements:
Applicants should have a terminal degree from an accredited institution in a discipline in one of the following disciplines in CBEHD, including Education, Psychology, Leadership, Kinesiology, Community or Public Health. The person should have strong previous experience with regional and specialized accreditation and must be able to demonstrate the ability to apply those skills to a wide variety of accrediting organizations. Previous experience in an administrative role at the level of Director/Chair or higher is preferred. A successful applicant should have the credentials to be tenured at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.
