The Survey Team undertakes patient and staff surveys on behalf of NHS trusts and private sector healthcare organisations. As an approved survey contractor for the NHS we are responsible for the delivery of a programme of surveys including; inpatient, outpatient, maternity, emergency, paediatrics. Due to an increase in business we are looking to add to our team of researchers.

Purpose of the role:

To work in support of the activities of the Surveys team.

Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Assist in the development and delivery of our national staff and patient survey projects, including the following:
  • Building relationship with Trusts (Acute, Community Health Services, Mental Health) and other clients through regular communications (marketing material, telephone contact); ongoing client liaison through the survey process.
  • Organising and administering postal and online surveys, including; liaison with CQC Coordination Centre and sub-contractors, monitor response rates, collate and check survey data, respond to client enquiries and manage Picker Institute’s freephone service.
  • Assist clients in the use of our online reporting system
  • Draft and check survey reports
  • Analysis of survey data and reporting on this analysis
  • Preparing PowerPoint presentations on trust results, benchmarks and comments
  • Assist senior staff in the presentation of survey findings and assisting in delivering workshops to a variety of audiences at trusts
  1. Assist with the management of smaller scale, bespoke patient surveys
  1. Assist in preparation of research proposals, tenders and quotes
  1. Assist the frequent feedback and staff survey teams, as and when necessary
  1. Assist with research of new survey products
  1. Assist in development of new areas of business
  1. Contributing to the work of Picker Institute Europe as a whole by:
  • Fully engaging and participating in the achievement of Picker’s aims and objectives
  • Advocating new approaches, processes and methods to enhance Picker’s performance
  • Promoting the sharing of knowledge and communications across teams within Picker; working closely with other teams to deliver projects and promote the use of survey findings.

Person specification

Essential requirements:

  1. Degree level education or equivalent in relevant discipline
  1. Desire to have a career in social or healthcare research or market research
  1. Able to work efficiently to tight deadlines on multiple projects, often under pressure.
  1. High degree of self-motivation and resourcefulness combined with a willingness to adopt a ‘hands-on’ role
  1. Have excellent attention to detail
  1. Collegiate working style – able to work effectively with staff at all levels across the organisation and, where necessary, with external suppliers and contacts
  1. Strong communication and writing skills
  1. Competent IT user, including Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  1. Willing and able to travel within the UK, on occasion

Desirable requirements:

  1. Relevant experience in employee surveys, patient surveys, social research, market research or project management
  1. Experience of using survey software for online surveys
  1. Experience of undertaking quantitative or qualitative research:
  • Questionnaire design
  • Experience of online, postal, telephone methodologies
  • Data handling, analysis, and reporting
  1. Good understanding of ethical and data protection standards
  1. Project management experience
  1. Experience of managing and developing client relationships
