Purpose of this assignment
Scenario
The Job interview went well and you got appointed to the position of network operator with a large organisation. Your line manager has been asked to produce a report for the board of directors explaining network management to them, so you have been asked to produce the report for your manager to edit before she passes it on to the board.
Task 1
Part 1–Create a presentation explaining the functions of network management.

Part 2 –Add a section to your presentation outlining the goals of fault management. Remember, this is not about explaining the faults, just what you as a network manager are trying to achieve through proactive fault management.

Task 2
Use web-monitoring software to interrogate a network, identify its assets and their configuration.
In this section you must gather screenshots and annotations providing evidence of the following,
  • Connected devices.
  • IP addresses.
  • Network traffic.
  • Web activity.

Task 3
Produce a report justifying the inclusion of performance management activities within a network manager’s role.
You should ideally link to aspects of bothperformance management and fault management as the two are often related.
  • You should examine performance variable as these can often identify early faults, and can prevent these from happening.
  • In turn ensuring a good network service for its end users.
