Sounds and music used in the cartoon should be original recordings, or if not, must be fully referenced in the bibliography.

Submit a well presented portfolio that reflects the development of your cartoon. It needs to include the following items:

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA/MARKING SCHEME

ASSESSMENT TASK NUMBER: 4

PRESENTED AS A: Multimedia Cartoon & Folio

Criteria / Mark
P3.1sketches, produces and interprets drawings in the production of projects. / 6
  • Sketches are submittedwhich appearclear, well drawn and well presented. They demonstrate a logical and evolutionary approachto all aspects of the cartoon including characters, backgrounds and props. Where appropriate they are neatly labelled and easy to interpret and understand.
/ 5-6
  • Sketches are submitted which attempt to show the design of character or backgrounds. They do not always show clear or direct links to the finished product, although it is clear they attempt to. Some labelling is present and although mostly easy to interpret, they generally lack sufficient detail to be clear.
/ 2-4
  • Sketches are inadequate or non-existent. They do not show adequate detail, or fail to show real links to the finished product. Rarely are they neatly labelled and able to be easily interpreted.
/ 0-1
P3.2applies research and problem-solving skills. / 5
  • Clearly demonstrates the abilityto do research into a given topic (the animation and cartoon industry) and then package that research into an attractive, informative and interesting document. A full and correctly referenced bibliography is included.
/ 5
  • Adequate research into the given topic is submitted. Some level of detail and information is provided, but with only a limited effort at presenting the information in an interesting way. A bibliography is included, although not fully conforming to the standards for referencing.
/ 2-4
  • Little or no attempt is made to research the given topic. Information is minimal, poorly presented, or incorrect. Little or no attempt is made at including a bibliography.
/ 0-1
P3.3demonstrates appropriate design principles in the production of projects / 4
  • Design principles of line, shape, balance, colour, movement, etcare creatively applied together to produce an attractive, visually effective cartoon which is engaging and entertaining for an audience. The finished product has a consistent look and feel.
/ 4
  • Some design principles have been applied to the production of the cartoon, and the finished product has some attractive elements or sections. The look and feel of the finished product appears inconsistent.
/ 2-3
  • Very few or no design principles have been utilised in the project, and it lacks a consistent look and feel.
/ 0-1
P4.1demonstrates a range of practical skills in the production of projects. / 6
  • Demonstrates an extensive knowledge and skill in the use of the hardware (such as the PC, microphones, tablets, etc) and software tools (such as Macromedia Flash, Audacity, Word, Project, etc) required to complete this cartoon. The ability to manipulate digital files using computing tools is clearly evident.
/ 5-6
  • Demonstrates a reasonable level of practical skill in the production of a multimedia cartoon. Competence in some of the tools and techniques is evident, but is sometimes lacking the appropriate skills to smoothly integrate various hardware/software combinations.
/ 2-4
  • Demonstrates limited practical skills in the production of this project. Limited use of hardware/software results in a unimaginative or narrowly designed finished product
/ 0-1
P4.3identifies and explains the properties and characteristics of materials/components through the production of projects. / 4
  • Creatively uses a diary or blog to clearly identify, explore and document a wide range of technical and creative issues faced during the production of the cartoon project.
/ 4
  • Uses a diary or blog todocument some of the issues faced during the production of the project.
/ 2-3
  • Little or no inclusion of a diary or blog, or no substantial use of it to document the project.
/ 0-1
P5.2uses appropriate documentation techniques related to the management of projects. / 5
  • A Gantt chart (or other similar form of time management tool) is included which clearly and realistically identifies and links key milestones and activities which take place during the project’s development.
/ 5
  • A Gantt chart (or similar) is included, but it fails to adequately identify and link the activities and milestones required to complete the project.
/ 2-4
  • No time management tool is included, or it does not adequately identify and link the tasks required to complete the project.
