Meetings will be prearranged at an agreed time and place. Both parties will undertake to give as much notice of cancelled meetings as possible.

Method of Evidence Gathering and Assessment:

It has been agreed that assessment will consist of live observations, supported by the candidate providing supporting evidence as planned and agreed with their assessor.

The candidate will take the main responsibility for evidence gathering and will keep the assessor informed of opportunities for evidence gathering which are likely to arise. The assessor will support and offer guidance when appropriate.

Assessments will be ongoing as the opportunity arises or are identified by the assessor or candidate.

For those with Employed Status

Assessments are to be carried out within normal working time and should not disturb the normal activities of the candidates’ workplace unless agreed otherwise.

For those who are not within an Employed Programme of Learning

Assessment will be planned and agreed to a mutual timescale.

Record keeping:

The candidate and assessor will use the documentation recommended by Adult College/ LBBD Assessment Centre’s and awarding bodies. All records of evidence are to be kept in the candidate’s portfolio. All information recorded must maintain confidentiality and be within the guidelines.

Records of meetings and action plans need to be kept in the portfolio and be available for the IV and EV to have access to.

The candidate must take responsibility for the safe keeping of the evidence gathered and ensure the portfolio is maintained in an order that allows evidence to be found easily with the support and guidance of the assessor. The assessor may request the folder for assessment.

Arrangements for feedback

Feedback will be given regularly on evidence gathered and will be recorded by the assessor. This record will be kept in the candidate’s portfolio.

Verbal feedback will also be given and recorded when appropriate.

Feedback will also include action planning if evidence provided is not sufficient to meet the Performance Criteria of the unit the candidate is completing.

Arrangements for resolving problems:

If matters cannot be resolved by the parties concerned then the complaints procedure can be invoked.

Candidates may appeal against an assessment decision, by using the appeals procedure.

Responsibilities of the candidate:

  1. To attend training/ classes/ workshops when needed.
  2. To produce evidence relevant to the award being undertaken.
  3. To meet with your assessor at agreed times.
  4. To identify with your assessor opportunities to be observed.
  5. To complete work as agreed.

Responsibilities of assessor:

  1. To assess work provided by the candidate using the relevant standards and judge accordingly.
  2. To support the candidates to gather appropriate evidence, and check evidence is authentic.
  3. To provide candidates with fair assessment.
  4. To give feedback throughout the process of the candidate completing the award.
  5. To complete recording documentation as required by Adult College/ LBBD Assessment Centre’s and the awarding bodies
  6. To report to QAC any candidates failing to meet the assessment process

Mutual responsibilities:

To be committed to the NVQ programme, and work to the standards stipulated by the awarding body, and Adult College/ LBBD Assessment Centre’s.

Both the assessor and candidate agree to any Quality Assurance audits throughout assessments.

This contract will be reviewed six monthly, but may be reviewed by either party if required.
