ASSESSMENT DEBRIEFING (Assessment PMI)

PMIs are used to clearly identify your strengths (to maintain), weaknesses (to improve) and common sources of error (careless / exam technique errors rather than lack of knowledge) and are a critical part of improving test and examination performance (so important for students heading to university).

Learn from your previous mistakesand don’t forget to comment on your use of reading time.

This sample is based on mathematicsand should be adapted to each of the courses you are studying.

  1. Immediately after each assessment, complete a PMI on the assessment (it is important that you put in writing your thoughts about “how it went”).
  2. When the work is returned and corrections completed (the professional opinion of your work), review/update your PMI.
  3. A week (or so) after writing your PMI, check your progress on the changes/improvementsyou identified.
  4. Before the next assessment in each course, go back and review each of the PMIs completed for that course.
