The Assembly Working Group on Worship will be preparing worshipresources relating to the 40th Anniversary of the Uniting Church (22 June 2017).

The Working Group invites submission of resources that can be used from Easter to Pentecost and beyond in the gathered worship of congregations, presbyteries and synods,

The 40thAnniversary falls early in the season of Pentecost in the Church’s year(following the celebration of Easter), and the closest Sunday is either 18 or 25 June. The resources may be seasonal, not only for 18 or 25 June.

The aim is to invite people to celebrate God’s grace and goodness. This can also include other aspects of worship including confession, lament, intercession.

  • include some interactive involvement
  • include a range of images for God and for people
  • affirm that the Uniting Churchacknowledges the First Peoples both in the Preamble to the Constitution and in the Covenant with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress
  • affirm the nature of the Church as multicultural
  • be inclusive of diversity (theological, ethnic, socio-economic)
  • affirm the Uniting Church as part of the whole people of God – part of the one holy, catholic and apostolic church.
