Book of Condolence We have put in place a Book of Condolence to remember Keiran. This is available at the school reception. We encourage anyone (who wishes to) to write a memory of Keiran or a tribute to Keiran in this book. Photographs and any other items would also be welcome. When complete, we will give the book to Keiran’s family. (DB)

Elgin Academy Cricket Club (EACC) At the end of the current football season I am looking to start or organise some kind cricket activity after school probably around the time of timetable change or start of study leave. Cricket is a traditional summer past-time, far from the stereotype of organised loitering (Thanks Mr Salvage!), extended lunches and getting a 5 day suntan! So if you fancy yourself as the next Joe Root or Jimmy Anderton and can handle a 5 day winter tour to exotic places like Fochabers then get to the crease wearing summer whites in full batting order to Mr Baker’s room (G23) to register your interest. In cricket we trust. MB.

Down’s Syndrome Awareness Week. The Support for Learning Department are selling Easter cakes/biscuits in the hall at break-time Thursday to raise funds for the Down’s Syndrome Association and would be grateful if pupils could come along for support. Items for sale will cost between 30p-60p. (DP)

Speaker’s Corner today sees Mr McAvinue tell all about football refereeing. Kick Off is at 1.20pm, in the library. Please come along and cheer Mr McAvinue on.

Dare you accept the Easter Extreme Reading Challenge? Bring a photo of yourself reading in an unusual or strange place, for display in the library after the holidays and the chance to win a great prize.

Happy Holiday reading.

Scholarship fund through the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Scotland

A scholarship fund has been set up through the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) Scotland with the aim of removing the cost of a student loan preventing anyone from studying civil engineering. This is the result of a donation to the Institution by a retired solicitor. Four awards of £4000 per year for young people aged 21 and under living in Scotland are made to allow them to study in Scotland. The award is open to full-time or part-time students as well as apprentices or students on day or block release from an employer. Each successful candidate receives £4000 per year for a maximum period of four years. The closing date for applications is 31 March for courses beginning from September this year. Application forms and details can be found on the ICE Scotland website at
