POSITION:Custodian

LOCATION:All School District Buildings

REPORTS TO:Facilities Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school education or the equivalent.
  • Clear FBI fingerprinting & WSP background checks.
  • Ability to read and interpret such documents as safety manuals, operating and

maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.

  • Be physically and mentally capable of carrying out the duties.

Demonstrated leadership ability, i.e. can plan, organize, provide leadership, manage many tasks simultaneously and accomplish work on schedule.

  • Familiarity with all materials and equipment used in the care of the schoolgym and grounds.
  • Possesses the ability to maintain congenial, positive and productiveworking relationships with students, staff and the public.
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, dependability and skill in custodial duties
  • Has good communications skills; can follow written and oral instructions.

DUTIES INCLUDED BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

Depending upon the individual assignment, the Custodian may perform all or a combination of the following:

  • Performs all duties to maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness and efficiency: dust and clean classrooms and offices, wash walls and woodwork, wash windows, sweep, mop, scrub and wax floors, shampoo and vacuum carpets, and wash and sanitize bathroom fixtures and replenish supplies.
  • Clean cafeteria and dispose of trash as needed.
  • Routinely inspects buildings, grounds and mechanical equipment to insure proper

maintenance and safety.

  • Maintains security and safety of building as outlined by building procedure.
  • Inventories, maintains and orders custodial materials and equipment for the

building.

  • Routinely inspects, services and troubleshoots in areas of controls as relates to air handling units and/or air conditioning, as well as all other equipment.
  • Keeps records as directed.
  • Assists building administrators in working with special groups who use the

building in the off hours.

  • Maintain exterior grounds as directed
  • Accept delivery of supplies and materials and distribute them as needed.
  • Other Duties as assigned by Maintenance/Grounds Supervisor.
