Who is the facilitator of the retreat?

The facilitator of this upcoming retreat is Ms. Dominique Evans, (HOH), a bible scholar, ASL Instructor, licensed clinician, biblical studies instructor, and President/CEO of Create the Vision Source, LLC. She also serves as Deaf Ministry President of the historic Metropolitan Baptist Church in the District of Columbia.

Tell me more about Create the Vision Source, LLC (CTVS)?

A company that allows Ms. Evans to provide a plethora of wholistic and creative services, Event Management & Design, Clinical Services & Addiction Therapy, an American Sign Language Religious Studies Curriculum, Bible Instruction, Project Management, Life Coach & Wellness services for all ages. Her aim is to champion all efforts to bridge the gap of the Deaf and hearing communities; her love for people and humanity exudes in every “amazing” experience she creates and has for the past 25+ years.

Why are you having the retreat in a remote location?

The retreat is being held at a remote location to allow the participants to fully focus on the experience without interruption to gain the most training & support.

Why this location?

This location was chosen because its location was conducive for persons to attend from surrounding states. Ms. Evans has traveled to all of these areas and this location is the mid-point for all.Ministries will meet ministries & organizations for continued ministry support.

Can I bring my spouse who is not attending the retreat?

Yes, you can still invite your spouse to attend, but the cost will remain the same for double occupancy. There are many amenities at the resort to include: spa, golf, restaurants, swimming, shopping, among other calming activities.

Will I be able to appreciate the amenities at the resort?

The lodging accommodations are comfortable and you will appreciate it. The schedule is intense but it allows you during certain meal times an extra hour to enjoy whatever you choose during your free time. You may decide to swim, spa, treatment, hike, or rest.

How many CEUs will I receive?

For persons who are already certified interpreters, registered with RID could receive between 1.5- 2.5 CEUS, per their participation.

Note: RID requires earning 2 CEUS per year.

All participants will receive a certificate of attendance.

What do I need to bring for the retreat?

These are suggested items: clothes, comfortable shoes, tennis shoes/sneakers, swim suit, bug repellant, medications, cosmetics, flashlight, umbrella/rain jacket, notebooks, pens/pencils, electronic devices cords, bibles, sunscreens, favorite pillows, or back supports, etc.

What is included in the intensive instruction?

Religious Vocabulary, Scripture, Sacred Songs, Religious Idioms, Etiquette, Ministry Development, Code of Ethics, Study Tools, ASL/PSE, among other pertinent items.

What is the intensive schedule like?

The schedule can begin as early as 630 AM, should you choose a lab or 1:1 consultation and as late as 1130 PM of the same. The schedule includes 2-3 hour workshop times, meal/free times, bible study, silent socials, etc.

What if I need a roommate and cannot afford the single occupancy rate?

Our office knows all of the participants and we can match you with a roommate. We can encourage a SKPYE call prior to the retreat to make the introductions.

How can I arrive to the retreat?

You are encouraged to arrive via car, carpool, van, etc. If persons require a train, bus, or plane arrival, please contact our office to ensure transportation to the retreat site. We can assist you with connecting with others who plan to attend.

Explain the meals:

Meals are filled with vegetables, meat, breads, and desserts. Vegetarian diets are also considered. Please indicate dietary restrictions under Special Notes on the registration form.

What if I have special needs, how will they be addressed?

Please indicate your special needs/requests on the registration form and it will be addressed, whether you require an individual interpreter, refrigerator for medications, guide dogs, wheelchair accessibility, special seating, etc- we can accommodate you if you provide for us the information in advance.

Are there any group rates?

Unfortunately, the rates have been negotiated to the best rate and no additional discounts can be made at this time.

Cancellation Policy:

If the Retreat Cost is paid in full between today and April 4, 2013 everything will be refunded to you except the $80.00 deposit fee and the balance would be returned to you thirty (30) days after a written request of cancellation has been received.

If your participation is cancelled after April 2013 and June 10, 2013 and you have paid the total Retreat Cost, we will keep your $80.00 deposit and ½ of the total fee paid. All monies will be returned thirty (30) days, after a written request of cancellation has been received.

If you need to cancel your total participation, we will make every effort to try and fill your slot and have the new participant refund you the entire amount, but NOT to include the $80.00 deposit.

You can consider participating in another retreat in a different location at a different date.

If a new participant cannot be confirmed, a total refund minus the $80.00 deposit will be returned ninety (90) days after your written cancellation has been received.
