Artists’ Support the Heritage Conservancy
"We decided to do something that would be a win for art lovers, and a win for all of us who care about preserving our natural and historic heritage", says J. Stacy Rogers, President of the Artists' Gallery. Eighteen prominent and distinguished Artists' Gallery members have created new work to benefit the Heritage Conservancy for a special one-weekend exhibition and sale, titled "A Brush with Nature". “The Artists' Gallery is an artist cooperative and all our member artists are behind this", continued Rogers, “this our third such benefit event this year.”
"A Brush with Nature" at the Artists' Gallery begins with a private opening reception for Heritage Conservancy donors on Friday from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Then the event opens to the public Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, September the 20th and 21st.
Forty percent of the sale price of these especially prepared artworks will be donated to the Heritage Conservancy as well as ten percent of everything else for sale in the Artists' Gallery.
"It makes sense that artists would be concerned about protecting our valuable landscapes, streams, barns and historic buildings", says Clifford David, President of the Heritage Conservancy, "We are very pleased that the Artists’ Gallery chose aspects of our properties to make beautiful pieces of art that communicate both the successes and the imperative of careful preservation.”
Event goers can expect painted glass sculpture, photography, watercolors, oils and mixed media artwork ranging from the contemporary abstract to traditional. “The Heritage Conservancy properties could keep us busy forever”, says Rogers, “whatever we asked for, farm animals, vintage stone buildings, creeks, fields of flowers, they have it and protect it.”
The Heritage Conservancy was founded in 1958 as the Bucks County Park Foundation. Since that time, it has preserved thousands of acres of land and dozens of historic sites essential to our region's quality of life and has become an acknowledged leader in land and historic preservation throughout eastern Pennsylvania and western central New Jersey.
