ArticleI. Establishment, Mission, and Non-Discrimination Policy of the Organization

Section 1. Establishment

  1. The Student Activity herein established shall be known as the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University

Section 2. Mission

  1. The mission of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University is to make students aware of the rampant cases of pediatric illness in the United States. Through student leadership, community service and compassion the group will serve to remedy this growing problem in constructive and intelligent ways. The goal of the group is to instill valuable qualities of leadership in students so they may aid local families in overcoming the challenges that come with raising a child with a birth defect and help those families cope.

Section 3. Non-Discrimination Policy of the Organization

  1. This organization and its members shall not discriminate against any individual(s) for reasons of age, color, disability, gender identity or expression, national origin, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status.

Article II. Membership: Qualifications and categories of membership

Section 1.

B. Duties of Executive Members

  1. President

a)To act as the official representative of March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University whenever and wherever such duty is needed.

b)To conduct or co-conduct all meetings of March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University

c)To appoint and remove members of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University with the help of the other members of the group.

d)To prepare all agendas for meetings and itineraries for trips/ service projects either independently or with the help of Vice-President and other existing members.

e)To keep in close contact with the Columbus March of Dimes offices to facilitate the happenings at meetings and service projects and to more easily impart vital information to the group.

f)To take a leadership role in raising money for and participating in the March of Dimes’ annual March for Babies event and other events during the walk season of March-May.

g)To inform members of special meetings or cancellations.

  1. Vice-President -Treasurer

a.)To assume the office of the President should it become vacant.

b.)To conduct meetings of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University in absence of the President and/or with the President.

c.)To represent the organization at the request of the President in meetings, at service events and before Student Senate.

d.)To take a leadership role in and raise money for all planned service events and the annual March for Babies event.

e.)To inform members of special meetings or cancellations at the request of the President.

f.)To be responsible for all expenditures and incomes of the group that arise through fundraising, guest speakers or other arenas.

g.)To be current on all budgets for the organization.

  1. Secretary-Treasurer

a)To keep the minutes of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University and distribute them to all members of the organization at each meeting.

b)To maintain the records of the organization for distribution to the President.

c)To conduct any other secretarial duties of the organization at request of the President

Section 2. Advisor

  1. Richard McCleador designated representative shall advise the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University with voice, but not vote.

Section 3. Qualifications

  1. To be eligible for election as the President of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University the candidate must meet the following criteria:
  2. Has been a member of March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University for a period of one year (does not have to be the year directly preceding election)
  3. Has attended at least half of the scheduled meetings for the year
  4. Has shown an interest in the organization by participating in and raising money for the March of Dimes: March for Babies fundraising event; held annually.

B. No person on academic probation shall sit on committee for the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University.

C. All other members must contribute to meeting discussions in a respectful manner and must work to attend as many meetings and service/fundraising events as possible. All others requesting high office must hold membership in the organization for one year.

Section 4. Election Procedure

  1. The election shall be of a democratic voting procedure in a civilized manner. New office positions shall be determined by a two-thirds vote. Election is to be done within the confines of the group.
  2. The candidate requesting high office with the two- thirds vote shall be elected to that office within the group.
  3. Elections take place before winter break and the newly elected officer shadows the current officer to better learn their officer duties and takes full ownership of the position summer term of the next year.

Section 5. Term of Office

A. Election shall be carried out as stated in Article III Section IV. From first election, new Presidency shall be established annually based on interest. Once the existing President has graduated, the next senior student holding the highest office shall assume the Presidential position if they are elected by a two-thirds vote.

Section 6. Removal of Officers

  1. If an officer conducts themselves in a manner that is deemed unfavorable to the purposed of this organization, is delinquent in performing their duties as an officer, or is in violation of the OSU student code of conduct the members of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University may remove any officer by a two- thirds democratic vote or a unanimous vote with the officers.

Section 7. Removal of Members

  1. If an member conducts themselves in a manner that is deemed unfavorable to the purposed of this organization, or is in violation of the OSU student code of conduct the members of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University may remove any member by a two- thirds democratic vote or a unanimous vote with the officers.

Section 8. Vacancies

  1. Vacancies in offices of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University shall be filled by a two- thirds democratic vote.

Section 9. Meeting Times

  1. All meetings of the March of Dimes Collegiate Council at Ohio State University shall be held twice per month, every other Thursday. Days, times and rooms to be determined on a meeting to meeting basis.
