An “A” Student displays the following qualities:
o  Follows ALL directions.
o  Takes direction and Constructive Criticism well.
o  Completes work on or before time.
o  Displays Pride in their work.
o  Utilizes rehearsal time efficiently.
o  Finished work meets ALL requirements.
o  Finished work displays SUPURB understanding of concepts and techniques.
o  Finished work displays SUPERB musicianship in execution.
o  Student takes care of their materials (instrument, music, uniform, and other equipment.)
o  Student is not wasteful and is a good steward of the classroom & supplies.
o  Student takes responsibility for deadlines, and their actions in class.
o  Students keep their area clean.
o  Students show respect to each other, staff members, the teacher & themselves.
o  Student always maintains a positive attitude throughout rehearsal and demonstrates good rehearsal discipline and technique.
o  Student always attends ALL rehearsals on time and prepared. (Prepared is defined as having instrument, music, pencil, tennis shoes, flip folder, lyre, and correct attire )
o  Arrives at the designated location by the assigned report time.
o  Has the proper uniform and required accessories.
o  Has all required music and equipment for the performance.
o  Is prepared to perform all musical selections at proficiency of 90% or better.
o  Maintains a positive attitude and a professional appearance and demeanor throughout the performance.
o  Fully participates during all classes/rehearsals. / A “B” Student displays the following qualities:

o  May or May not take direction and Constructive Criticism well.
o  Completes work on time.
o  Displays Pride in their work.
o  Makes good use of rehearsal time, but could improve.
o  Finished work meets ALL requirements.
o  Finished work displays GOOD understanding of concepts and techniques. .
o  Finished work is acceptable, but could use minimal refining to achieve “SUPERB” status.
o  Student takes care of their materials (instrument, music, uniform, and other equipment.)
o  Student is not wasteful and is a good steward of the classroom & supplies.
o  Student takes responsibility for deadlines, and their actions in class.
o  Students keep their area clean.
o  Students show respect to each other, staff members, the teacher & themselves.
o  Most of the time maintains a positive attitude throughout rehearsal and demonstrates good rehearsal discipline and technique.

o  Participates most of the time during classes/rehearsals. / A “D” Student displays the following qualities:

o  May not have completed work on time.
o  Displays little to no Pride in their work.
o  DOES NOT utilize rehearsal time efficiently.
o  Finished work meets MINIMAL requirements.
o  Finished work displays little to no understanding of concepts and techniques.
o  Finished work displays POOR musicianship in execution.
o  Student may not take care of their materials (instrument, music, uniform, and other equipment.)
o  Student may be wasteful and is not a good steward of the classroom & supplies.
o  Student may not take responsibility for deadlines, and their actions in class.
o  Students may not keep their area clean.
o  Students show respect to each other, staff members, the teacher & themselves.
o  Rarely maintains a positive attitude throughout rehearsal and demonstrates good rehearsal discipline and technique.
o  Attends 70%-80% of rehearsals and is on time and prepared. (Prepared is defined as having instrument, music, pencil, tennis shoes, flip folder, lyre, and correct attire. )
o  Attends the performance but is tardy for the performance start time. Arrives unprepared. Does not have a positive attitude and a professional appearance and demeanor throughout the performance.
o  Attends the performance but does not perform or performs at an unacceptable level of proficiency.
o  Consistently has gum and does not get rid of it during class/rehearsals.
o  Participates only some of the time during classes/rehearsals. / A “F” Student displays the following qualities:
o  Did not follow ALL directions.
o  Does Not take direction and Constructive Criticism well.
o  May not have completed work on time.
o  Displays little to no Pride in their work.
o  DOES NOT utilize rehearsal time efficiently.
o  Finished work does not meet MINIMAL requirements.
o  Finished work displays little to no understanding of concepts and techniques.
o  Finished work displays little to no care or musicianship in execution.
o  Student may not take care of their materials (instrument, music, uniform, and other equipment.)
o  Student may be wasteful and is not a good steward of the classroom & supplies.
o  Student may not take responsibility for deadlines, and their actions in class.
o  Students may not keep their area clean.
o  Student’s attitude is one of uncaring for their own grade or standing in class.
o  Does not attend performance or does not participate in performance.
o  Does not participate in class/rehearsals.
o  Attends less then 70% of rehearsals on time and prepared. (Prepared is defined as having all assigned music, a dot book, a pencil, four poker chips, a nail pouch and the student’s assigned instrument or equipment.)
o  Student does not show respect to each other, staff members, the teacher & themselves.

The description for each level is outlined in detail. You will be assigned your grade according to what extent you meet these criteria. A (+) indicates that you have met the criteria fully. A plain letter grade means you have mostly met those criteria. A (-) means you have met the minimum level of the listed criteria.
