Variety Show
Thank you to all of you who attended our Variety Show Friday night. What a great event! It is nice to see our students accept the challenge and get up on stage in front of hundreds of people to share their interests, hobbies, and skills with us. I don’t know about you but I really enjoy watching students be bold and being willing to do things that are difficult. The staff also had fun again this year and hopefully brought a few laughs to the audience. The highlight of my night however was watching the final act. Seeing all of our student performers sing the “We are the World” song and showcasing our diversity just shows how special a community we belong to here at Sinsheimer. The message of appreciation for diverse cultures, inclusivity, and compassion really shined through. What a great theme and message in a time where our world really does need more of this right now. Thank you Monica, Karyn, and Flor and your team of helpers for your vision, hard work, and dedication to our Sinsheimer family. It really was a great show!

Attention Sinsheimer Parents- 3 Days of School to GO!!!
Watch those lunch account balances!
The school year is winding down and as we approach the last day of school it is very important that we end the year in the clear on our lunch balances. Please be sure to keep your child's lunch balance paid in full or even showing a credit by the end of the year so we can end the year without a defecit showing. Please be aware that if y our child has an overage in their lunch account it will carry over into the new school year to be used later.

CIty of SLO Notice regarding Closure of the Railroad Safety Trail
The City will resume construction of the bike path. The rainy season prevented
a lot of the work from being done and it is being resumed now.
The Railroad Safety Trail will be closed intermittently for sewer line work from Tuesday, May 30th through Friday, June 30th. Pedestrians and bicyclists will need to use an alternate route during this time and a suggested detour route will be posted along the path. The Jennifer Street Bridge will remain open to the public.
The work activities will include trenching along the trail between the Jennifer St. bridge and the Bushnell Street / San Carlos Drive entrance.

County of SLO Summer Reading Program
The County of San Luis Obispo Public Libraries Summer Reading Program will take place from June 5th to July 29ththis year.
This fun free program rewards kids for reading with prizes like a free book, a ticket to Legoland, a free swim pass to the San Luis Obispo Swim Center, and more!
Join in and stop the summer reading slide. Families can also participate in one of our amazing free summer activities at their local library.
Enrollment for 2017-18
Annually the number of staff that we have allocated to Sinsheimer depends on our enrollment. A smaller number of students equates to a smaller number of teachers. We need your help in determining next year’s student numbers now. Please let the office know if your family will be moving (or is considering a move). Also please let us know if you have a sibling that will be attending next year.
KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT
Began Monday, Mar 6th
Kindergarten registration began on March 6th and acceptance of open enrollment applications will be held from March 6th through March 31. If you have a child, or know of a child, who plans to attend kindergarten at Sinsheimer, please register your child and/or encourage friends, family and neighbors to register their children. The Kindergarten Readiness Act is a law that sets the age of entrance into kindergarten in California. Children must be five years of age by September 1st for the 2017-18 school year. For questions, please contact the school office. Please be aware that due to the new Immunization law, SB277, effective July 1, 2016, incoming students who are not up to date on their vaccinations will be unable to enroll or attend school. Open enrollment forms (for transfers to other schools) can also be found in the school office during the same time frame. **Kindergartners must enroll at their school of residence. If your Kinder has upper grade siblings enrolled in Sinsheimer, but you do not live in the Sinsheimer area, you must enroll with your school of residence and also complete an Open Enrollment application.
