Trip Overview…

When do we go?

Wednesday 12th October 2016

Arrive at school between 7:15am and 7:30am

Bring luggage into the classroom

Coach leaves at 8am

Don’t forget to bring a packed lunch for the journey – not lots of sugary snacks or drinks

Where will we be staying in London?

We will be staying at the Meininger Hotel in the Hyde Park area of South Kensington which is about a 5-6-hour drive from Leeds.

When do we come back?

Friday 14th October 2016

7.30pm, depending on traffic

Where do we stay?

The children will stay in the Meininger Hotel, which is opposite the Natural History Museum.The boys and girls will be segregated – each having their own sharing rooms with other children they chose to be with.

Children will stay in three or four bedroom rooms with bunkbeds and personal shower and WC.

What will we eat in London?

The children will eat in the hotel or be provided with a packed lunch. They will be provided with a varied balanced diet at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Children with specific diets will be catered for.

Day 1: / Wednesday, 12 October 2016
07:30 hrs / Meet at schoolto load luggage ready for departure.
Take luggage to classroom doors.
08:00 hrs / Depart school
The children will need to bring their own lunch today.
14:00 hrs / Anticipated arrival time in London
Visit to the Houses of Parliament this morning
16:00 hrs / Anticipated arrival at time at the Meininger Hotelwhere the group will spend
the next 2 nights with full board accommodation.
Towels will be provided by the hotel.
17:00 hrs / Evening meal will be served at the hotel.
18:15 hrs / Depart the hotel on your coach
19:00 hrs / Arrive for a confirmed evening performance of The Lion King
22:00 hrs / Performance ends, group to meet with their coach and return to the hotel
22:45 hrs / Anticipated arrival time back at the hotel
Day 2: / Thursday, 13 October 2016
09:00 hrs / Continental breakfast will be served at the hotel.
Packed lunches will be provided
10:00 hrs / Group will be met by their Blue Badge Guide at the
following meeting point for a 2.5 hour guided tour of London.
12:30 hrs / Guided tour concludes. The guide will leave your group at this point
13:10 hrs / Arrive for a confirmed Lion King Workshop– due to the group size you
will be required to split in to 2 smaller groups for the workshop
14:45 hrs / Workshops conclude. Group to meet with their coach and transfer
to the banks of the river Thames ready for your river cruise
16:00 hrs / Arrive for a confirmedone-waycruise on the River Thames
17:00 hrs / Arrival in to Tower Pier. Group to meet with their coach and transfer to
the hotel ready for their evening meal
18:30 hrs / Evening meal will be served at the hotel.
Day 3: / Friday, 14 October 2016
08:45 hrs / Continental breakfast will be served at the hotel.
Packed lunches will be provided
Group to vacate their rooms and load their luggage on to the coach
The group will walk across the road this morning for their museum visit
13:00 hrs / Group to meet with their coach ready for departure
13:30 hrs / Depart London
19:30 hrs / Anticipated arrival time back at school
What to bring…

Warm waterproof rain jacket
Suitcase/bag on wheels Each child’s luggage allowance is 1 suitcase/bag on wheels (up to 85cm long) plus 1 piece of hand luggage, i.e. back pack
Comfortable backpack for day trips
Empty purse or wallet for day trips (money handed in separately)
Wash kit (toothbrush, toothpaste, flannel, soap)Towels provided

A set of nice evening clothes for the theatre would be advisable

We are allowing inexpensive cameras (disposable are advised) on the understanding that each child is responsible for his/her own property.

Please remember No valuable items e.g., mobile phones, iPods, consoles etc. Only inexpensive cameras allowed. Mr Maher will make sure the children take lots of photos with our school cameras.

Labelling Bags

Please put the attached paper stating our school address and the hotel’s address in Londonon the inside of your child’s suitcase. Also attach a luggage label with our school address on the outside of the suitcase and rucksack. Please do not write your child’s name on these labels. Addresses provided below. On the morning of departure the children will be provided with a badge which provides them with our address in London and staff mobile telephone numbers.
