Welcome to the Around the Saddleworld Stores weekly news update. With Saddleworld stores in most of the key equine hubs around Australia, our friends and associates will always have something interesting to share with you. We will update this page weekly and look forward to bringing human interest stories, tales about superstars and their superstar horses, show information and acknowledgement of those who have helped to make a difference to the lives of the many friends of Saddleworld.

It is clear that all around the country Saddleworld stores are supporting their local equine community and helping to provide competition, racing, training and entertainment. This hands-on and financial support is what makes Australian equestrian sport into the fantastic activity for riders of all ages – well done team!

Saddleworld Australia Wide – All stores have been very busy with a “biggest and best ever” sale which has been an end of financial year stock reduction that sees customers enjoying heavily reduced prices on all stock. Storeowners and staff report that the feedback has been excellent and they have been pleased to see many familiar faces and lots of new people coming in to experience the Saddleworld – A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE.

Saddleworld Midland (WA) – The store is situated in a very community minded area and are getting behind a fund raising event for a dear friend Janine Johnson who was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year has been a major focus. SW Midland reminds customers, friends and family that they can be part of Xmas in July and a Silent Auction on the 19th, at the Jarrahdale Community Recreation Centre (YMCA) in Byford. Monies raised will help Janine to get to the USA for Treatment.

Saddleworld Devonport (TAS) – Everyone involved with the store is delighted to welcome Sabrina Docherty who recently joined the team. Sabrina brings to the job a wealth of experience and a passion for Showjumping and Endurance riding. Sabrina has been an active and enthusiastic member of the Leven Pony Club in Ulverstone in Tasmania. Welcome aboard Sabrina.

Saddleworld Launceston (TAS) – We are all very excited to be part of the Long Ride 4 Life kick-off, Ann says, “This event has been of special importance to us here in Tassie and we are delighted that all SW stores have got behind this wonderful fund raiser for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Leukaemia Foundation. Saddleworld has become an important sponsor by providing fantastic Eurohunter Rugs to ensure that the horses are warm and comfortable at night. 4 horses and riders along with 3 dogs, backed up by the self funded SUV vehicle will leave the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame in Longreach, Queensland on the 16th of July and will make their way down the east coast of Australia and across Bass Straight to complete the ride in November, to coincide with the Ulverstone show in Tasmania. Saddleworld Rockhampton (QLD) - are proud to be themajor sponsor of the equestrian events at the Rockhampton Show which were held on 4, 5 and 6th June, 2014. Graeme Salmond donned his most dapper attire to act as the Ring Master for the duration of the show. This year, the show hosted the Queensland Country Show Jumping Championships, and the Committee welcomed the daughter of the legendary jumping competitor Guy Creighton, Gemma, to be part of the Championships. Photo: Graeme congratulates Maddie Sears who won Grand Champion Hack award at the show. He also gave a big thankyou to the fantastic judges, Sharon Bredhauer and Alex Hyles.

Saddleworld Mt Gambier (SA) – Linda and her team at Saddleworld have generously sponsored the Penola Hunt Club Open Gymkhana which was held on Sunday June 29 with Novelty and Games events in the morning and the afternoon program featured Working Hunter classes and Teams Section Jumping, which the club sees as an important run-up to the Adelaide Royal Hunt classes, later this year. Linda has been involved in hunting for 25 years and says she loves to support her club and get the chance to showcase hunting to a wider audience.

Saddle-Up Saddleworld (VIC) – Last week we heard of Lyn and Bill McCallum’s proud participation in the journey of Australian international dressage rider Maree Tomkinson as she looks to qualify her outstanding imported mare Diamantina for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, later this year. Well … it is official, that the reigning Australian Grand Prix Champions Maree and Diamantina have been named on the Australian selector’s “long list” of 7 combinations to take part in the final qualifying events. Great news for us all.

Saddleworld Caboolture (Qld) – Debby Cameron reports that this is a special time for staff and friends of the store, as they have been very involved in the Quarterhorse State Show which was held at Caboolture from the 24-29th June, and as major sponsors of the event, the store donated a fabulous Pessoa Gen X saddle to the winner of the Junior Hunter Under Saddle class. Debby was also an event organiser through her involvement with the Burpengary Western Performance Club and has been delighted with the positive feedback from competitors, spectators and fans of the Australian Quarterhorse.

Saddleworld Ballarat (VIC) – Natalie and Kylie from Ballarat are very involved with the diverse and interesting spread of customers that they service. Natalie explained, “We talk to people from almost every facet of equine sport and love to hear their stories. We are very proud of our sponsored rider, 17 YO Lucinda Doodt. She is a fantastic role model and enjoys both the serious competition side of riding as well as having fun. Lucinda recently placed 14th in the CCIJ class at the Melbourne International Horse Trials (Melbourne 3DE) and is pictured here doing ballet with her horse Somerville Park Pollyanna. We all share her fun and appreciate the achievements of all of our sponsored riders.
