Careers and Employment:

- The Careers and Employment Centre is currently promoting the following on our Facebook page – The Warlang Festival 2016

  • Are you interested in a career in the Health industry? Come down to Murdoch University on Thursday 06 October, 10am - 2pm for the Warlang Festival! With stallholders offering information on pathways and careers in Psychology, Exercise Science, Nursing, Chiropractic and Medicine just to name a few, this will be a great event for those interested in a career in Health.

Engagement:

(International)

- A reminder that China will be on holiday next week with it being Golden Week.

- Fozz has returned from his travels in Indonesia.

- Nev will be travelling to Japan next week and will be back in the office on the 17th October.

- Carol heads off next Friday for an extended trip including the below:

  • Sweden & Denmark where she will undergo student presentations and agent training
  • Melbourne: attending the AIEC conference

Carol will be back in the office on the 25th October.

- We would like to welcome Tim Jardine who has started with us today as International Engagement Coordinator = please welcome Tim when you meet him.

(Partnerships)

- Natalie is on leave until 24th October (lucky thing) so please contact Vicky for anything urgent.

- Xavier is ploughing his way through the agent commissions which is a mammoth task, hopefully this will slow down soon to allow him to work on other things. Well Done Xavier.

- Simone our casual staff member has updated the web with all current agents. All agreements are currently being uploaded onto Sharepoint so if you need to check anything the document will be there shortly. Great work!!!

Enrolments & Fees:

Enrolments

- The Enrolments Team is focussing on reviewing 2016 forms and processes, and the set-up and preparation for 2017 enrolments.

Fees

- The Fees Team is focusing on debt management for the year, completing the Fee Review, and set-up for 2017

Equity and Social Inclusion:

- The Respect. Now. Always. Campaign committee has organised a panel event to be held on Friday 7 October at 11am in HSFLT Freehills Lecture Theatre, Law 1.101 Bldg 465. The panel event will consist of brief presentations and an open Q & A session with specialists to allow people to explore supports, responses and interventions relating to sexual assault and harassment and broadening out into family and domestic violence. And there’s lunch too. Students and staff welcome!

- Pride Week is coming up. There will be a Pride Flag-raising ceremony on Thursday 27 October at 10am. This will be followed by a panel discussion titled ‘Inclusive university culture – how are we doing?’ All staff and students are welcome.

- Living Library event at Mandurah Campus in the alfresco area on Friday 21 October at 1pm. The theme is: ‘My Journey, My Career, My Story’. Afternoon tea will be provided too. All welcome!

- The next ALLY discussion group in on Thursday 6 Oct and fortnightly after that. Time: 12.30-1.30pm; Venue: ECL1.1026 (tea and coffee making facilities available). All welcome!

- Disability Advisor, Supratik Mukherji, is on leave for another week. Both Disability Advisors are booked up for the next 2 weeks.

Graduations & Results:

Graduations

- Singapore graduands have until Friday 7 October to confirm their attendance via MyInfo without incurring a late fee

- We will send out a reminder email to all graduands that have been assigned to the Singapore ceremonies and have not confirmed their attendance

- Preparation for the ceremonies is progressing well

Results

- OUA2 Board of Examiners will be held this week and results will be released Friday 7 October

Student Support:

Scholarships

- New Murdoch First scholarship launched and all information available on our website

- A new Honours Scholarship has been advertised called: CSBP Fertilisers Agricultural Science Scholarship - Applications open!

Special Programs

- Expensing for Australia Awards has been completed and handed over to BST to reconcile and bill

- Exam broadcast going out to ADF and Elite Athlete enrolled students and organising alternative/deferred exams

Transition and Retention

- Redesigning guides for new students to create a one-stop-shop for a student success guide. All external students will be sent a printed copy.

Student Retention Program

- Student Retention working group will be taking place Tuesday 4 October

TNE:

Week 5 September Trimester

- It has been decided that it would be best not to roll out the MUCC implementations in Dubai. The exception to this rule will be the MEd & MBA, all other courses will be offered as they were in 2016. The 2017 Handbook will reflect this decision.

- The January Pre-Approval Affiliate Lecturer list will be provided to Kaplan today. We hope to have all affiliates appointed to units for January, by end of October.

- Schools continue to work on the unit resource information for January, due to partners next week.
