Research interest:

I am interested in improving the low vision services in Jordan and to help visually impaired get access to low vision aids (particularly electronic low vision aids) to enable them to use the useful residual of their visual functions.

I am currently interested in evaluating low vision services, demographics of low vision patients, prescribing and use of low vision aids, reading performance assessment among visually impaired, and the compatibility of reported and actual parameters of low vision aids.

Also, I am interested in expanding the concept of optometrist in Jordan to provide all the required services and/ or tests; not merely refraction, and to reflect that in practice.

Glaucoma diagnosis is another research interest of mine.

Research experience:

2012-2016: As part of PhD, I conducted five studies to evaluate pocket and portable electronic low vision aids (PELVAs) from different perspectives (their parameters e.g. contrast sensitivity, magnification and resolution, their prescribing pattern, rating patients satisfaction with these aids, reading performance in visually impaired patients).

2009: Research project title "Barriers to access eye care services among AMD patients in Australia", at UNSW-Australia.

2009-2012 Supervised a number of projects for the 4th year Undergraduate-Optometry students e.g. ("How to get an early diagnosis forglaucoma?", "Low Vision Aids", "The rational of amblyopia Treatment", &" Microbial Keratitis"), Jordan University of Science & Technology.
