October 1, 2013

Are you ready for a busy month? There is a lot going on this month. I am hoping to explain it all in this letter, but if you have any questions, please let me know.

D.E.A.R. Day

On Wednesday, October 9th is a school wide D.E.A.R. Day. D.E.A.R. Day stands for Drop Everything And Read. It is a fun day for all of us! Children are invited to wear their pajamas to school and bring in pillows, blankets, and books to share with their friends. Please remember to label all of their items. Children can wear slippers but will need to change into regular shoes for outside time. We love for parents to stay around and read to and with us! You are welcomed to wear your pajamas as well! First thing in the morning usually works best, but if you can’t stay and could read at a different time, please let me know. It’s a fun way to earn volunteer hours.

Fall Break

This year we have a small fall break. There will not be school on Thursday, October 10 – Monday, October 14th. There will be daycare available.

Conferences

On Thursday, October 10th we do not have school, we have parent teacher conferences. I have posted a signup sheet next to the parent board. If those times do not work for you, please let me know and we will work something out. There is daycare available.

Costume Parade

On Thursday, October31st we have a costume parade. Children are invited to come to school in their costumes (please remember no weapons) and the whole school parades out front to see each other. It is a lot of fun! It is a day to stick around and bring your camera. After the parade the children need to change into regular school clothes. After the parade we will have a fun day of Halloween activities and a visit from our buddies.

Pumpkin Patch

This year the entire school is going to the Marana Pumpkin Patch on Friday, October 18th. Our class and our buddy class are scheduled to arrive at the patch by 9:30; this means we will need to leave Satori by 8:45. Please plan to come to on time on this day, to give us time to get car seats in the cars they need to be. Please remember to send your child to school with sneakers, pants (preferably), sun block and a water bottle they can carry. The cost is $8 per person. Please remember to make checks out to Satori and turn them into me by Tuesday, October 15th. We will be eating lunch there, so no warm ups please. If anyone has ice chests or coolers that we can borrow for the day it would be greatly appreciated. The permission form is hanging next to the parent board. We will need help driving out there as well as help supervising, if you would like to go with us, please sign up at the bottom. If you are CPR & First Aide Certified you can drive other children. Please let me know if you are able to do this and how many children you can fit in your car.

Oktoberfest

Each year we have a fun night of activities for the kids to play. Each class is responsible for making and running the booth. If anyone has a fun and easy suggestion for our booth, please let me know by the end of the week.
