Archdiocese of Mobile Conference Series Parish Ambassadors
MISSION STATEMENT
The series of conferences offered by the Archdiocese of Mobile, known as the Archdiocesan Conference Series, has the sole purpose of winning souls for Jesus Christ. This is accomplished by offering opportunities for dynamic encounters with the Lord through celebration of the Eucharist, adoration, and enlightening and engaging talks. The conferences each seek to encourage active participation in parish life.
THE “WHAT’s” OF THE CONFERENCES
- One Faith One Family is our family conference which occurs in the odd years, one week prior to the opening weekend of AHSAA football competition. This year’s conference is on August 18 & 19, 2017 at the Daphne Civic Center.
- Called to Lead is our men’s conferencewhich occurs in the even years on the Thursday one week after Ash Wednesday. The next Called to Lead Conference occurs on February 22, 2018 and will be at Corpus Christi Parish in Mobile.
- Called to Love is our women’s conference which occurs in the even years on the first Saturday of October. The next Called to Love Conference occurs October 6, 2018 and will be at Corpus Christi Parish in Mobile.
- The theme for this two-year cycle (2017-2018) of conferences is “Savor the Faith.” Our two main goals:
- Encourage families to eat together more frequently.
- Encourage the parish family to gather around the altar weekly to be fed.
- The conferences seek to encourage participants into a more active life in their home parish.
- The participants will bring a renewed energy that you can harvest.
- There will be a list by parish of all who attend that you may access to promote events within the parish or to recruit volunteers for specific tasks.
TICKETS FOR THE ONE FAITH ONE FAMILY CONFERENCE
- Tickets are purchased through the Eventbrite website. Please send people to mobarchconferences.org for information and to find a link to purchase tickets.
- A ticket for the entire family is only $75 and $45 for an individual ticket. This price includes dinner and speaker on Friday night and a full day conference ending with a Vigil Mass on Saturday.
- Seating is limited and we do anticipate this event will sell out.
- There will be a limited number of “Saturday only” tickets available for $50 for families and $25 for individuals.
- Please offer an option for those who do not use the internet to purchase tickets through the parish by paying you cash or check, and then you (or the parish) can purchase the tickets online for them (Please note that with each family ticket sold, we will need the number of persons attending and the ages of the children so that we can have Friday’s supper and Saturday’s program for the children adequately prepared).
- Please also consider reaching out to some of the families on the periphery of parish life. Perhaps the parish can set aside the funds to send 3, 5 or even 10 families to the conference. You will need confirm with the family before you purchase tickets because you will need to enter the number of participants attending and the age of the children attending.
SCHEDULE OF WHAT WE ARE ASKING OF YOU
- Put up the posters in a visible place at the entrances of your parish church (with the pastor’s approval) prior to the Saturday Vigil Mass of March 18, 2017.
- Have a bulletin announcement placed for the weekend of March 25-26, 2017. You will need to do that before the weekend of March 18-19 by contacting whoever it is in the parish that is responsible for the bulletin. A sample bulletin announcement is included in this packet; you can also find it electronically at mobarchconferences.org, in case you wish to copy and paste it.
Please keep this announcement in your bulletin as much and as long as possible.
- Ask your pastor to make an announcement at all the Masses on the weekend of March 25-26, 2017, promoting the One Faith One Family Conference. There is a sample announcement in the packet; you can also find it electronically at mobarchconferences.org.
- Please consider recruiting a few “friends” to aid you in recruiting attendees for the conference. Especially consider reaching out to persons who seem to be a bit on the periphery of parish life. (see #6 under Tickets)
A personal invitation is very powerful. Remember, these conferences are a great opportunity to revitalize the faith of people.
