Arburg exhibits efficient injection moulding solutions at the Plastpol

·  Fast: packaging items in 2.9 seconds on a hybrid Allrounder H in Packaging version.

·  Automated: servo-electric Integralpicker for fast action times

·  Production optimisation: presentation of the Arburg host computer system

Lossburg. From 27 to 30 May 2014, Arburg will present its products and services at the Plastpol in Kielce, Poland. At exhibition stand no. E-15 in Hall E, visitors will be able to experience the efficient production of packaging products and technical parts on two exhibition machines. A hybrid Allrounder 570 H will produce a thin-walled food container in a cycle time of only 2.9 seconds, and a hydraulic Allrounder 470 C Golden Edition with Integralpicker a precision cover.

Dr Slawomir Sniady, Managing Director of Arburg Polska Sp. z o.o. describes the significance of the annual trade fair as follows: “The Plastpol is an extremely important forum for us to present our product range ‘live’ to customers and prospects. This year, with the standard hydraulic Allrounder 470 C Golden Edition machine and the high-performance Packaging version of the hybrid 570 H machine, we have selected two very different exhibits to reflect the breadth of our range of efficient injection moulding solutions. Both machines are connected to the Arburg host computer system, ALS, which enables efficient organisation of production and which we will also be presenting in Kielce.”

Hybrid Allrounder in Packaging version produces food container

The fast, hybrid Allrounder 570 H in the Packaging (P) version is specially tailored to the packaging sector. It features a clamping force of 1,800 kN and is equipped with a size 800 injection unit. The dynamics of the removal robot with special gripper from Star Automation are in conformance with the speed of the machine. Thin-walled food containers with a capacity of one litre are produced in only 2.9 seconds using a two-cavity mould from Hofstetter. This type of high-speed Packaging machine enables Arburg to achieve its goal of production efficiency, i.e. cost-effective part production at low unit costs throughout the entire value-added chain.

Packaging version: high performance and speed

In order to meet the high demands of the packaging industry, Arburg offers Packaging (P) versions of the hybrid and electric Hidrive and Alldrive high-performance machines. These combine high productivity with reduced energy consumption and are characterised by a well-balanced combination of distance between tie-bars, clamping force and opening stroke. Moreover, they provide precise, energy-saving mould movements (through servo-electric toggle-type clamping units), high plasticising performance (through barrier screws and servo-electric dosage drives), dynamic position-regulated screws and effective injection volume flows.

Cost-effective hydraulic machine technology

With the second exhibit, Arburg will present its successful hydraulic Golden Edition machine series. The Allrounder 470 C Golden Edition with a clamping force of 1,500 kN and a size 400 injection unit operates with a 2-cavity mould from Elektro-Plast and demonstrates how a technical part can be produced cost effectively in high quality. In order to separate the sprue reliably and quickly, the machine is equipped with a servo-electric Integralpicker. This offers low-cost entry into automated part removal. Three servo-electric axes permit fast, precise mould entry. The features of this picker include simultaneous, freely-programmable machine movements, as well as high dynamics, repeat accuracy and energy efficiency. The standard teach-in function is a quick and easy way to program the picker, which reduces the set-up times.

Arburg host computer system (ALS): efficiently planned and optimised production

Ensuring consistently high product quality, optimising production capacity utilisation and minimising downtimes to enhance the energy efficiency of production processes will become increasingly important in ensuring cost-effective production in the future. For this purpose, the Arburg host computer system (ALS) provides the ideal control instrument between production planning and the production process itself. On a fully functional version of the host computer system, Arburg will present to customers the tools from this modular kit that can be used to introduce and expand production management in individual companies.

About Arburg

German machine manufacturer Arburg is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of injection moulding machines with clamping forces between 125 and 5,000 kN. This is complemented by robotic systems, customer- and sector-specific turnkey solutions and further peripherals. An innovative additive manufacturing system developed in-house was added to the plastic processing range in 2013.

In keeping with its motto “Arburg for efficient injection moulding”, the company places the topic of production efficiency at the centre of all its activities, taking into account the entire value-added chain. The objective is to enable the Arburg customers to manufacture their plastic products, whether one-off parts or high-volume production, in optimal quality and at minimum unit costs – e.g. for the automotive and packaging industries, communication and entertainment electronics, medical technology, or the white goods sector.

An international sales and service network guarantees first-class, local customer support. Arburg is represented by its own organisations at 32 locations in 24 countries and by trading partners in more than 50 countries. The machines are produced exclusively at the parent factory in Lossburg, Germany. From a total of around 2,300 employees, around 1,900 work in Germany. About 400 further employees work in Arburg’s organisations around the world. In 2012, Arburg became one of the first companies to gain triple certification: to ISO 9001 (Quality), ISO 14001 (Environment) and ISO 50001 (Energy).
