/ The Autry is an intercultural history center dedicated to exploring and sharing the stories, experiences, and perceptions of the diverse peoples of the American West.
The Education Dept. at the Autry provides a number of unique and engaging programs. Our tours and classes bring the stories and lessons of history to life through engagement with our talented museum education staff and docents, hands-on learning opportunities, and museum gallery tours. Topics include Native American culture, California gold rush history, and westward expansion. Students also get a broad overview of the museum and its exceptional collection of historical artifacts and Western art (from nineteenth-century landscape paintings to movie and TV Westerns). / Grades: K - 12

/ Children will sit on the floor for performance. Caution them to sit quietly, not to touch puppets and strings, do not scoot forward and obstruct performance of marionette. Some marionettes are 3-4 feet tall, manipulated by puppeteers. Children are as interested in the puppeteers as the puppets. Children can see and hear puppeteers talking for the puppet as well as “work” the puppet strings. / Grades K-6
