Aquafit Instructor

Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre (“TPASC”) is operated by a new corporation co-owned by the City of Toronto and the University of Toronto. This state-of-the-art facility will play host to the 2015 Pan Am and Parapan Games. TPASC is the largest sport new-build for The Games and the largest investment ever in Canadian amateur sport history. Pre and post Games this world-class facility will deliver programming that serves high performance athletes, recreational and community groups as well as fitness centre clientele. The 312,000 square-foot sports centre includes two internationally sanctioned 10-lane 50-metre pools, a dive tank and dry-land dive training facilities, a four-court gymnasium, an indoor running track, conditioning rooms, a high performance testing centre, studio spaces, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.

TPASC is currently seeking part-time Aquafit Instructorsto join our team!The key accountabilities of the role include, but are not limited to:delivers safe, effective aquatic fitness classes that create a pleasant exercising environment for members of all ages and abilities; provide a high standard of instruction and services to all members of the centre; enable and motivate members to achieve their aquatic and fitness goals; regularly attend staff training and continue education to stay current with industry trends; perform administrative tasks to support the program; and other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate(s) will possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum of two (2) year of previous experience in an Aquatics or Fitness Instructional capacity
  • Completion of High School Diploma
  • Current Aqua Fitness certifications from a recognized certifying organization (CALA, Y, WaterART) or equivalent as deemed acceptable by management
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C, AED and Airway Management
  • Current National Lifeguard (NLS) an asset
  • Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions

Three professional references will be required and a Vulnerable Persons police records check will be completed for the successful candidate(s).

Hours of work: hours will vary depending on scheduling requirements; the successful candidate(s) may be required to work shifts during the week and on the weekend.

Hourly wage: based on experience and qualifications.
