BE TOTALLY IMMERSED IN FRENCH FOR THE DAY WHILE HAVING FUN PARTICIPATING IN HANDS-ON WORKSHOPS IN: CHOCOLATE MAKING, MAGIC, YOGA, DANCE, DRUMMING, AND MORE!!!!

WE HAVE AVAILABILITY FOR UP TO 180 STUDENTS ONLY!! ONE CLASS PER SCHOOL. PARTICIPATION IS LIMITED TO ONE DAY PER YEAR ONLY. MATF MEMBERS WILL BE GIVEN PRIORITY (to become a member, visit AS SPACE IS LIMITED, TEACHERS WILL BE NOTIFIED IF THEIR REGISTRATION IS CONFIRMED BY MARCH 29TH. *ACCOMPANYING TEACHER WILL BE EXPECTED TO SUPERVISE THEIR STUDENTS AND HELP WITH THE FLOW OF THE DAY. THIS ALSO INCLUDES PARENT VOLUNTEERS WHO MAY HAVE DRIVEN STUDENTS AND INTEND TO STAY AT THE VENUE.

SESSION DESCRIPTIONS:

Please note: Sessions will be delivered using vocabulary familiar to French: Communication and Culture students. The focus of the workshops will be to further develop students’ basic skills in French as well as providing opportunities to explore the Arts. Presenters will adapt to students’ linguistic needs. Teachers will be provided with a ‘lexique’, which they can review with the students prior to attending this event.

CHOCOLATE MAKING (Session 1)

Come learn how to make your own delicious milk chocolate using molds and how this“hands on” activity is fun and enjoyable and can be done in French!

YOGA (Session 2)

Come and relax while learning yoga techniques. Improve your flexibility and mental discipline while relaxing in a calm, tranquil environment. Please bring a yoga mat with you if you have one. You will leavethesession appreciating the art of yoga!WEAR OR BRING APPROPRIATE CLOTHING!

LET’S MAKE SOME MAGIC/FAISONS DE LA MAGIE!! (Session 3)

Come out and see MAGIC performed by a local French Magician. During the performance, many students are invited to give themagician a hand. From time to time, the whole crowd participates in achieving a magic trick. The emphasis is on HUMOUR. You won’t believe your eyes!!

CRAFT MAKE AND TAKE (Session 4)
Come and create your own themed crafts! Participants will make and take home their creations.You will speak some French while creating something new!

KARATÉ (Session 5)

Come learn some key karate moves, learn some French and have a lot of fun. Please wear loose fitting/comfortable clothing to participate in this Japanese martial art.

DRUMMING (Session 6)

Come join in this hands-on learning experience using authentic African drums and xylophones.These amazing rare instruments arefrom around the world. Come ready to participate.

LES GAUFRES (Session 7)

Come learn about a traditional Belgian favorite. You will make, cook and EAT your “gaufre”.

DRAMA (Session 8)

Practice YOUR oral French skills in the classroom through drama games and activities. Come and have fun finding meaningful ways to use your French while participating in drama activities, skits and the like….Get out of your desks and onto your feet interacting in French with your classmates!

SPOONtanéité–UN VOYAGE MUSICAL DANS LA FRANCOPHONIE (Session 9)

Come learn how to play the spoons – playing rhythms from Francophone countries. Ecoutez les rythmes des pays de la francophonie autour du monde. Voyagez autour du monde avec la musique et soyez prêts à jouer les cuillères musicales.
