d). Describe the project briefly and explain why you want to do it(max 250 words). / Red brick Construction is a small construction business delivering construction and scaffolding in the South Cheshire area.
One of our employees has 15 years of experience as a plasterer, but no formal qualifications. We would like to him to undertake a level 2 plastering NVQ. Chiefly, this is with a view to him serving as a mentor to apprentices which we hope to take on in future. However, it will also lay the foundations for further qualifications, as well as boosting his confidence, and reinforcing, formalising and updating his existing plastering skills.

This question is worth 25% of the total score. / The project will offer one level 2 plastering NVQ for an existing employee with 15 years of plastering experience, but no formal training. This will give him the grounding needed to mentor apprentices in the future, as well as updating his skills.
b). What are the project’s objectives? These
should relate to the skills and training initiatives above.
This question is worth 25% of the total score. / The objectives of the project are that the plasterer undertaking the project feels more confident in his work, and is able, in future, to mentor apprentices. In addition, we want the qualification to update and reinforce the skills he has developed on the job over the last fifteen years, making him more confident and paving the way for further qualifications down the line.

This deliverable will upskill an employee of the business, formalising his on-the-work experience, improving his technical skills and giving him the confidence necessary to supervise apprentices when we take some on in the future. The NVQ will be delivered by “On site training services”, a local SFA funded training provider who deliver construction training. We have a good pre-existing relationship with them and hope to deliver apprenticeships with them in the future. By providing this level two qualification to one of our employees, we will have an updated and greater skills base within our workforce, meaning we can deliver a higher quality of work. This will make us more competitive in the market.
Your existing workforce / Our existing workforce will benefit from the better processes instilled by this training; formal recognition and reinforcement of skills for the employee undertaking the training will boost his confidence, and a greater level of skills will make work processes more efficient, making jobs more manageable.
