WATER QUALITY ADVISOR - EDUCATION

(M BAND)

The Scientific Services Division of Rand Water, in partnership with Delta Environmental Centre, is involved in a hands-on Water Wise Education Programme aimed at environmental awareness and action amongst learners and teachers.

The incumbent of the above position will be responsible for the effective co-ordination, facilitation and administration of Water Education Programmes at Delta Environmental Centre in Victory Park, Johannesburg, with specific emphasis on spreading the water conservation message through environmental education methodology.

PRIMARY DUTIES

·  Organise & facilitate water education workshops at Delta Environmental Centre.

·  Manage the Water Wise Room and storerooms at Delta Environmental Centre.

·  Manage staff involved in the facilitation of water education programmes.

·  Manage the relationship between Rand Water and Delta Environmental Centre, i.e. Service Level Agreement, budget, etc.

·  Develop learning programmes specifically on water and linked to the school curriculum for learners and educators, aimed at nursery schools, schools and tertiary institutions.

·  Monitor and assess water education programmes.

·  Fieldwork on water conservation and purification issues will form an integral part of the educational programmes.

·  Work with schools that are involved in the EcoSchools Programme.

·  Developing relationships with external parties, i.e. companies, NGOs, schools, universities, etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

·  An appropriate Natural Sciences Degree or Diploma with specific emphasis on Environmental Education.

·  Two years’ experience in Environmental Education.

·  Code EB driver’s licence.
