Last date for applications / 1 February / 1 May / 1 August / 1 November
1. Your Name
2. Organisation (if applicable)
3. Your address (incl. postcode)
4. Your telephone number (daytime)
5. Your telephone number (evening)
6. Your email address
7. Name of road to be closed
8. Date and start and finish time of road closure
9. If you plan to close only a section of the road, where will the closure begin and end?
10. Give a brief list of properties affected. This means any property, residential or commercial, which is located on or accessed only by the road(s) you wish to close e.g. Cedar Close numbers 1-20 and numbers 21-98
11. Is the road to be closed used regularly by through traffic? Does it provide access to another road which has a dead end that cannot be reached in any other way?
YES/NO
If yes, you will need to send us a plan showing the exact extent of the closure and an alternative route for traffic.
Please note that if your road is on a bus route or a major traffic route (like Seven Kings High Road or Hermon Hill) then we will not be able to recommend that it is closed.
12. Will you guarantee that access for emergency vehicles will be readily available at all times?
YES/NO
If no, you will need to discuss this with us at the Council. In the interest of safety, you must be sure that roads are accessible for all emergency vehicles.
We will consult with the Emergency Services on your behalf assuming we have no objection ourselves to your proposal
13. How will people know the road has been closed off – have you thought about barriers/diversion signs needed?
If yes, can you say what you will be doing?
If no, you can speak to us or look at the Streets Alive website (www.streetparty.org.uk) which may be able to help you with advice.
14. Have the residents and businesses in your road agreed to this neighbourhood/ community event?
YES/NO
Please provide evidence that this is the case. This could be a simple form signed by all affected residents which you can email or post to us. (See example of form on the last page)
We want to ensure most people are happy with this event, so if there are any objections you should let us know. We may be able to help you resolve these. It is worth remembering that not everyone may be able to participate so let everyone know what time the party will start and end (you may want to finish by 9.00pm to minimise noise).
What happens next?
E-mail your completed application form and any queries to us at
Or post it to Street Parties, Civic Pride, 11th Floor Rear, Lynton House, 255 High Road, Ilford, Essex, IG1 1NY.
We will look at what you are proposing, process your application for road closure and let you know if there is anything else you need to consider.
Limitations
Redbridge Council will not be able to provide any assistance with barriers, road cones, power supplies or other practical matters.
Insurances
We recommend that you look at the Streets Alive website (www.streetparty.org.uk) to assess whether you should take out Public Liability Insurance for your event. The Council does not require this as a matter of course but if you plan a large scale event, we may want to satisfy ourselves that you have insurance cover.
Costs
The Council will fund the costs of whatever legal Traffic Order may be required. Should an order be needed to cover the closure of your road then you will be sent a notice to fix to a lamp post to advise other local people. There will be no charge for this.
We hope this form has been helpful and has given you some useful pointers to help you plan your party.
Good Luck
