Description

In an effort to improve mentorship within the DGSOM student body, as well as to bridge the gap between the preclinical and clinical years, the Medical Student Council along with the 4th year colleges have created the position of Senior Student Advisor to Student Interest Groups. Each of the 4th year colleges that have career specialty interest groups under their purview will have a minimum of one and a maximum of three, 4th year medical students who will serve as the Senior Student Advisor to Student Interest Groups for the subset of interest groups that are affiliated with that particular college. The overarching goal is for the senior student advisor to serve as a liaison between the college chairs and the student interest group leaders, directing resources such as workshops, lunch talks, and shadowing opportunities. The senior student advisor is also expected to fill the creative role of helping 2nd year student interest group leaders create their yearly programming, particularly in relation to collaborative events with other SIGs.
