The closing date for applications is Thursday 6 October 2016 at 12 noon

The Federation of Scottish Theatre invites submissions from artists/companies who would like the opportunity to discussplans for new work or early-stage work with programmers and presenters (delegates) from across Scotland.

Successful applicants will be offered a platform at which to present their projects to delegates. There will be two options:-

  • An informal 5-10 minute presentation given at a table with no technology other than your own laptop/tablet (if desired) – audience: 5 delegates per table (approx.)
  • A more formal 5-10 minute presentation given in a theatre space with technical/AV equipment or a performance element (if desired) – audience: 15 delegates (approx.)

Artists can request touse a combination of spoken presentation and high quality still or moving-image footage of their work as they feel is appropriate to their project. Extracts of pieces may be used but full staging will not be possible. Technical support for AV (projector, PA) will be provided.

All presentations will be followed by time for feedback and/or facilitated questions.

The objectives of this event are to:

  • Provide a platform forartists/companies to present one proposal for future work toprogrammers
  • Allow/encourage people to have early-stage conversations about their work
  • Create opportunities for artists to build touring networks for their work
  • Look at developing a 3-way relationship between creator– venue – audiences
  • Explore the possibilities of collaboration or co-producing
  • Ultimately make companies and venues more informed and sustainable

Please note that Early Dialogue Day will not provide opportunities for presentation of work that is ready or nearly ready to tour or for making introductory presentations on artists/companies work in general – presentations must focus on a specific new piece of work that is at an early stage of development.

The selection panel will be made up of promoters and venue programmers to ensure that the projects selected will appeal to a range of delegates.
