To qualify as an approved driver by our insurance company, you must be 21 years of age before the summer and have a very good driving record. Considering your current age and driving record (tickets, accidents, etc), are you likely to be approved to drive by our insurance company this summer?
For the summer of 2018, Mayhew will require that summer staff be available to work from June 9 until August 14. Are you available for this entire time frame?
Mayhew is an absolutely tobacco-free, alcohol-free, and substance-free community. As a staff member, would adhering to this policy be an issue for you?
In an effort to encourage the idea that individuals should define themselves by their actions and relationships with others, rather than by their appearance, Mayhew has a relatively strict dress code. We wear uniforms (simple tees and shorts) and neither boys nor staff are allowed to wear visible jewelry. In addition, on-duty staff are not allowed to wear open-toed shoes or sunglasses. Will this policy be an issue for you?
Do you have any dietary restrictions or special needs?
How did you learn about Mayhew?
Are you a citizen of the United States? /
If no, are you authorized to work in the U.S.?
If yes, explain:

Personal Photo

As part of the application process, we encourage you to include a photo of yourself as an additional attachment. Keep in mind that Mayhew is an Equal Opportunity Employer and that the photo is simply an opportunity for us to put a face to the name. If you'd prefer, you may skip this step or substitute a photo that instead offers some insight into your personality!

Kitchen Manager

Young men of the program who are ages 14-17 are able to apply to work in Mayhew’s kitchen as a way to connect with the camp in a new way, gain some valuable work experience, and earn some money over the summer. It is an invaluable part of our program, both for the help they provide in the kitchen preparing meals for the camp, and what it provides them in their first steps to becoming young professionals. The kitchen manager we hire each summer is not primarily responsible for food, but for directing and supporting the kitchen staff pre and post meal times as well as debriefing how the meals were run afterward; providing feedback to individuals and the group. The kitchen manager also spends downtime with the kitchen staff; swimming, playing games, or resting between meals. An interest and comfort working with teenagers is needed. Former kitchen experience is ideal, but not required.
Are you interested in exploring this position; working with these young men and supervising them in a dynamic work environment within the greater camp setting?

If so, please fill out the following section. If you are not interested in this position you may skip it (Please note: this will not affect your consideration for Island Staff).

Link-Up

After being involved with the Program for two years, boys (ages 12 - 17) are invited to move into the Link-Up phase of the Program for up to four more years. Links can participate in five-day, outdoor adventure trips during the summer and are encouraged to challenge themselves physically and socially. By doing so, Links learn to be more successful collaborators, more confident individuals, and important role models for the younger boys in the program. Each summer we hire two Link-Up Trip Leaders who facilitate these trips, along with our Link-Up trip coordinator. Trip leaders must be 21 or older and be approved drivers.
Do you meet the age/driving requirements and are you interested in this position?
