Appendix C: Admissions and Enrollment

1.  Appendix C should include a description of the school’s enrollment policy and admissions procedures, including the process for conducting an admissions lottery and any geographical boundaries that impact admissions.

2.  Appendix C should include a five-year enrollment projection table including school year, grade levels, and number of students anticipated in each grade level.

3.  Appendix C should also include the at-risk percentage that the school will maintain in order to meet the standard outlined in Louisiana’s state charter school law.

General Policies

All candidates seeking admission to ISL Kindergarten programs must be 5 by September 30th of the year in which they are seeking admission. If a child does not meet this age criteria he or she is not eligible for admission that year.

All applicants are eligible to apply to more than ISL school so long as the corresponding and completed application is submitted to each location.

All Global Academy Schools are open admission with no admission requirements other than parish of residence.

Applicants to our Dual Language Schools must meet parish of residency requirements and have a grade level understanding of a Spanish language.

Applicants to the International School of Louisiana Full Language Immersion Program will be required to meet parish residency requirements and the language provisions of their chosen immersion track.

ISL will hold a lottery for each grade level at every school in which there are more applicants than there are spaces available at each school operated by ISL. All lotteries are open to the public. Prospective families are to be notified of the date, time and location of the event.

Once the number of spaces available for the lottery have been filled, the wait list will be created. The remaining applicants will be placed on the wait list for their preferred school in the order that their name is selected until every applicant has been selected. Applications that are submitted after the deadline will be placed on their corresponding wait list in the order they are received.

International School of Louisiana does not discriminate in the rendering of services to individuals because of race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, disability or any other non-merit factor.

Timeline

The International Schools of Louisiana will accept an application at any time throughout the school year; however the recruiting period shall be no more than three months and no less than one month. Applications for the upcoming year shall be available no later than the second Monday in October; applications for inclusion in the lottery (if one is required) must be received no later than the second Friday in January. Families will be notified of acceptance no later than the second Friday in April.
