Accommodation in Eindhoven
Dear Guest,
Due to the limited availability of accommodation in Eindhoven it is hard to find cheap furnished accommodation. As the University does not have accommodation on the campus, all guests will be accommodated in Eindhoven or in the direct neighbourhood. The university can mediate for a room or a house, depending on your needs and financial possibilities. It is up to you whether you make use of this offer. Be aware of the fact that you have to start in time finding a place to stay. If you have to spend a night in a hotel it will cost you at least
30 Euro and prices may rise up to 100 Euro and higher.
There are two ways of finding furnished accommodation:
1) Find accommodation yourself
You do not have to make use of the services offered by TU/e. It is possible to try and find your own accommodation. In taking initiatives yourself you can contact several commercial housing organisations. For example:

You can also try to rent a room for a short time as a subtenant. Placing advertisements is one of the good ways to find accommodation. Renting in the private sector with a landlord, renting a room in a youth hostel or hotel are also possibilities. Whatever you do, start in time!

2) Make use of the service offered by TU/e
It is also possible to make use of the service of TU/e by completing the enclosed form. By answering ‘yes’ on the question ‘Lodging requested?’ on the application form for foreign guests you apply for mediation for accommodation via the University and you accept our terms of conditions! To make sure there will be accommodation available, your host at our university has to confirm at least two months before arrival to the accommodation officer that you are welcome at TU/e. If you make use of this service accommodation is guaranteed under the following conditions:
Binding conditions for reservation for lodging via TU/e
1) The completed application form has to be with TU/e at least two months before arrival. The form will only be accepted if also other requirements, if any, are met. (Eg. Letter with permission from your University, letter of acceptance of the Department involved)
2) If so, the university will do its utmost to find accommodation in line with your preferences indicated on the form and in line with the indicated prices mentioned below. If applied in time, it is for sure that the University will find you a place to stay upon arrival.
3) Making use of the mediation of TU/e is agreeing on a blind-date arrangement; there is no way we could present all private owned houses on forehand to all guests. So, when you apply for accommodation we expect you to accept the accommodation offered.
4) If, upon arrival, you do not prefer to stay much longer in the accommodation offered by TU/e, you can give notice to quit (usually one month) and look for other accommodation yourself. In this case you always have to pay the rent for the first month. It also means that you are allowed to stay only for this month at this place. So never give notice to quit as long as you are not very sure that you have found other accommodation.
5) By signing this form, you apply for accommodation and accept the binding conditions. You can change or cancel your reservation free of charge until 1 month before arrival, by writing. If, from that time on, for whatever reason you do not wish to accept the accommodation offered, TU/e will charge you for one month rent.
6) The accommodation offered is sometimes not covering the whole period applied for. If so, this means that once being in the Netherlands you have to work on succeeding accommodation yourself. TU/e is willing to assist you in this case, however, it should be clear that priority is always given to new guests who are about to arrive.
Prices (no rights can be obtained from this information)
You can expect TU/e to find furnished accommodation from 250 Euro per month and over. Apart from exceptions, this is the cheapest accommodation available. For this price you will get a small, simple furnished room with a landlady or one room in a student house or sometimes you share a double room apartment with someone else.
When you prefer your own apartment, where you have a bathroom and a kitchen shared with other guests you should count on at least 350 Euro
If you prefer an apartment for one person including your own bathroom and kitchen, prices are at least 400 Euro.
For family houses with 3 or 4 rooms rents start around 650 Euro.
Prices include gas, water, electricity, local fees, etc. Prices do not include telephone.
Often a deposit of one-month rent (to be paid in advance) is required.
