AP Studio Art Projects

These are examples of some of the projects that the students will be required to complete during their breath. During the concentration phase of this course the teacher will consult with students to help guide them to appropriate projects to enhance their portfolio.The student may choose to adapt one or more of these projects to complete their concentration.

Drawing / 2-D / 3-D sculpture / 3-D ceramics
Toned paper – charcoal still life with reflective surfaces. / Collage self-portrait (face) created from torn up old drawings. (1) / Create a miniature room using cardboard, fabric, and found objects. / 5 pinch pots creations must be glazed have a foot.
Figure in stretch bag. Continuous roaming line.(1) / Repeated phrase with related image repeated done in ink wash, and pen. / Tissue paper bas relief using acrylic medium / Slab construction round glazed object.
Cross contour figure / Gestural drawings of small animals. Then trace and create a piece. / Linoleum Relief of a plant or garden scene / Slab construction – box and lid with galley – glazed.
Watercolor texture painting using rock salt, hydrogen peroxide, gloss medium, tissue paper, splattering, sun stencil, airbrush through sand, cotton balls, and torn paper template. Adapted from ideas in (2) / Watercolor batik – continuous wax line creating an underwater or garden scene, and fill in the spaces with wet on wet or texture techniques. Adapted from ideas in (2) / Papier-mâché mask, in the style of those used for carnival, painted with acrylics. / Coil construction terra cotta pot, with coil embellishment and stained with clear glaze.

AP Studio Art Projects

Drawing / 2-D / 3-D sculpture / 3-D ceramics
Gestural drawings of small animals. Then trace and create a piece. / Cut 3 images into 3X3” squares, and reposition them into a piece, and then draw them as a value study. / Cardboard mobile - autobiography / Create a creature using hand building techniques.
Perspective drawing of school. Divide up drawing and treat each section in a different way, using texture, pattern, and color. / Collage generated from a piece of text taken from an old book. / Wire hanging sculpture – a sculpture suspended from one point that uses counterbalance. / Throw a pot and add to it to create a pitcher, or tea pot.
Architectural Drawing with an analogous color pallet with a complementary accent. / Collage landscape from papers created by using watercolor texture techniques. / Plaster carving – representational animal carving. / Using found objects create a work that incorporates the objects in some way.
Pop Art style drawing, using pencil, created from gum and candy wrappers, then utilizing an acrylic glaze to add color. / Create a drawing from several microscopic images, overlapping and utilizing acrylic glazes. / Foil sculpture of a person in motion. / Make stamps, and decorate a pot with impressions.
