Wednesday, May 4, 2016

From Coach Land: FCA will meet on Friday this week, we will continue the movie Woodlawn. Also, camp information will be given out. Last call for anyone who went on DC/NY trip to get a group picture, I will keep them in my room until Friday and then they will be put in the trash.

Any current 7th grade boys that might want to play tennis, come to the computer lab during AFL sometime this week to talk to Coach Taylor (not announced, but if girls ask: yes, girls can come also).

Students interested in credit by exam opportunity need to make an appointment with Mrs. Tucek to see Mr. Kear this week.

Attention all 8th grade Decide to D-FY members!! It’s time for our annual lock-in! The lock-in will be Friday night, May 6th from 6-9 in the large gym. We’ll have food, prizes, and lots of fun. I hope you’ll join us! It’s FREE. There are informational flyers on the ledge by the office and in Mrs. Stewart’s room. There’s also a list of 8th grade members posted by Mrs. Stewart’s door. It’s going to be GREAT!!!

It’s that time of year – student behavior is keeping the office pretty busy here lately. Students, we do our best to teach you to make good decisions and so do your parents. It is very important for a quality learning environment. We have some fun activities coming up in May that we know you will want to attend. Monday is the beginning of the 6th six weeks. Office referrals may result in you losing the opportunity to attend such events as the end of year dance, yearbook signing party, or the 8th grade picnic. Please be on your best behavior each and every day.

The City of Canyon Police Department will be hosting the 3rd Annual Student Academy from June 27th – 30th. Applications will be accepted from students entering grades 8 – 12 at CJH and CHS. Some of the activities that students will participate in are: Demonstration of Taser and OC Spray, Evidence Gathering, Crime Scene Reenactment, Firearms Training and Safety, and a tour of the Randall County Jail. Those students who are interested should see Officer Hernandez for an application form. There is no cost to attend the academy but it is limited to 30 students so hurry and get your application today.
