Sequence: The specific order of events.
Conflict: Is the main problem in a story, or the struggle between two opposing forces.
Genre: The kind or type of writing.
Climax: The greatest point of interest in the story and when the conflict is solved.
Exposition: The beginning of the story where the setting and characters are introduced.
Make a prediction: You will need to guess what will happen next in a story.
Short Story: A story that centers on a single idea and can be read in one sitting.
Fiction: Writing that tells an imaginary story.
Fact: Something that actually exists; reality or truth.
Nonfiction: Writing that tells about real people, places, and events.
Imagery: The use of words and phrases that appeals to a reader’s five senses.
Falling Action: Part of plot when the events lead to the conclusion.
Rising Action: The part of the story when the conflict or complication is introduced.
Summarizing: Briefly retell the main ideas in a piece of writing.
