Parent Feedback

“I couldn’t thank all the people involved enough especially the help of Audrey. My son is no longer dark and moody, he’s bright. With the help of ABEL and his school I have my happy bright loving son back”

“My child is more confident to stand up to his peers and he is not a prisoner in his own home anymore. Keep up the very good work you at ABEL already do”

“Caroline did the best she could do to help us all, I don’t think she could improve her excellent service”

Teaching staffFeedback

Thank you for coming into school during our health topic. The pupils and staff all appreciate your input

Anne Robertson Macmerry Primary School

ABEL Meditation

A huge thank you from all the health promoting school committee for the fantastic input you gave us yesterday.

It was amazing to see some of our most challenging children completely quiet (and sleeping!) on the floor. I think I need you in some of my classes on a permanent basis. The feedback so far has been good and so we may be calling on you again.”

Pamela Hogg Preston Lodge high school

I am writing to say thank you for the many ways you and your team, have supported the children and staff over the last year.

Our vision statement says we all work together for the good of ourselves and each other, to reach our personal goals.

With your support we have been able to ensure that we as a school are striving to live out our vision.

You have helped to make a difference to the lives of young people at Wallyford Primary.”

Debbie Beveridge Wallyford primary

I would like to thank you for attending our open evening. It turned out to be a very successful and enjoyable evening.

It was wonderful to have your input which described your work with pupils, parents and staff as so supportive and positive. Some parents were also able to voice their experiences and concerns about issues individually, so I’m really glad they had the opportunity to share with you but also that they could be reassured by you. Thank you so much.”

Financial review

Reserves

As a result of the surplus of £375 for this year, the association held unrestricted funds of £11,261 at the year-end.

The management committee consider that the general fund of £11,261 in addition to core funding expected for this year from East Lothian Council will enable us to continue as an organisation for the forthcoming year.

Trustees Remuneration and Expenses

The trustees did not receive any remuneration or expenses during the year.

Funding

ABEL receives core funding from East Lothian Council. We have successfully secured this funding for 3 years 2009-2012 (Although it is not clear the levels of support that will be available as these will be decided each year depending on the budget available). This is equally shared by Education & Children’s Services and Community Services.

ABEL will continue to seek independent funding from other charitable trusts.
