Invigilator/Special Events Monitor
Angels Gate Cultural Center (AGCC) has a part-time position open! Join our team and help us unite art, community and culture in the South Bay/harbor region.
We are seeking staff that will play a critical role in the galleries and monitoring special events over the weekends. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, organized, able to work independently and have keen eye for detail. The candidate must have a reliable form of transportation and be available to work evenings and weekends. The position is $10 per hour. Hours vary from 4 - 10 hours a week.
Job Description for Invigilators:
The galleries promote cross-cultural and cross-generational understanding by using the Arts to provide new perspectives and insights that enrich our lives. The galleries collectively operate under a yearly theme from which artists, designers and performers are selected to interpret, and thus create fresh and innovative programming that is unique within the South Bay and Harbor region.
The position involves the monitoring of the galleries over the weekend. Duties include:
· Opening/closing galleries
· Answering phones/communicate with public
· Attending training meetings
· Research for exhibitions
· Tour visitors through galleries
· Mail/distribute calls for entries
· Publicity
Job Description for Special Events Monitors:
The Special Event Monitors will be utilized whenever a private special event occurs on the AGCC premises. These can range from workshops, to weddings, to various private parties, meetings, etc.
The monitor will be required to:
· Ensure renters are compliant with health and safety restrictions of AGCC and Angels Gate Park
· Monitor setup and takedown of events.
· Open and lock the building during and after the events.
· Be friendly and personable yet very serious about ensuring that all safety rules are followed.
· Be honest, reliable, and able to be authoritative when necessary.
