This session will provide the latest, most valuable techniques in interviewing, “reading” interviewees, and deception detection. The information can be applied in any context whether in an employment interview, a casual interaction, or high stakes interview. The skills learned will facilitate attendees in developinga low-tech, un-invasive approach to reading people.The techniques used are internationally recognized for their potential for success in guiding interviewers to find the truth.

In the aftermath of the Boston Marathon terrorist attack, the U.S. homeland security effort is at a crossroads. There is a growing threat from domestic extremists who are able to execute lethal attacks while eluding much of the U.S. homeland security apparatus. Dr. Southers, an internationally recognized terrorism information expert, offers a wider discussion of the many extremist ideologies that threaten national security while also providing a detailed exploration of the nexus between ideology, radicalization and homegrown terrorism.
