Please join us for an informative and entertaining day designed especially for parents!

The Conference will open with registration and a lightbreakfast from 8:00-8:45a.m. During this time you may also visit the Learning Fair. Parents will attend a keynote presentation from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and then have the opportunity to attend several breakout sessions and browse booths at the Learning Fair from 10:15a.m.-12:15p.m. The Learning Fair will include tables from many of the Lancaster and Lebanon County school districts and will provide many resources and ideas for parents to help their children at home. Parents will also be given a voucher to redeem for a free book at one of the 2 book vendors. The day will conclude with an optional luncheon at 12:30 p.m. followed by prize giveaways.

When schools, families, and community groups work together to support learning, children tend to do better in school. Parents must be actively involved in their children’s learning. Come learn easy to implement strategies that you, as parents, can put into practice to assist your child in achieving academic success. Assisting your child in his academic endeavors is a key to his academic success.

“The Keys to Student Success: Parental Involvement and Engagement”

Collaborating, communicating, connecting, and creating are the 4 C’s of the 21st century. Students are in need of thinking skills and strategies to allow them to monitor their own comprehension. Come learn how to engage your children in the learning process so that they will be able to have a profound grasp of what they learn, retain what they learn, and transfer what they learn to new contexts.

“Study Skill Solutions”

Participants will learn strategies to encourage children to manage, complete, and learn from homework. We will also look at some common homework problems. Topics will include growth mindsets, brain research,

and anxiety.

“Social Media 101 - What Parents Need to Know”

This presentation gives parents a foundational education on understanding the social media sites their children use, and how to keep them safe while using them. Parents will learn how to navigate and learn how to enable the security features on the “apps”, along with recognizing the importance of knowing their child’s passwords. Monitoring children’s behavior and interactions on the internet is very critical in today’s world. Children are being targeted by online predators and cyber bulling at an alarming rate.

“Read Aloud Strategies”

This presentation will discuss the importance of reading aloud to your children of all ages, provide some strategies for questioning and modeling thinking while reading, and allow opportunity for practice with these strategies.
