Unit 1: Review: question words, basic vocabulary, basic grammar, stem changing and regular verbs.
Unit 2: Personal Id. Family members, adjective agreement, adjectives, ser and estar.
Unit 3: Daily Routine. Basic body parts, daily routine, Reflexive verbs,
Unit 4: House and Home. Rooms and items in a home. Household chores. Commands.
Unit 5: Community and Neighborhood. Directions, prepositions, prepositional pronouns, city vs country vocabulary.
Preterite, Imperfect. All verbs, forms of preterite, forms of imperfect, common irregulars, contrasts between preterite and imperfect.
Unit 6: Shopping. Clothing, shopping related vocabulary.
Unit 7: Technology. Computers and internet, email, cell phones, digital cameras, continued practice with preterite and imperfect.
Unit 8: Hotel: checking in, conversing with hotel staff, making reservations. Present perfect tense.
Unit 9: Physical Environment. Nature, geographical features, weather, animals, negative and affirmative words. Plight of the rain forest.
Unit 10: Speaking parts, Practice for Final
FINAL EXAM
Evaluation:
33% Quiz average. Students are allowed to make up quizzes within one week of taking them. I take the higher of the two grades.
33% Test average. Tests cannot be retaken. One week notice is usually given. There are usually only 2 tests per quarter. All are cumulative.
17% Class participation. Being prepared, participating, cooperating, in class assignments.
17% Homework. Usually 3-4 nights a week, HOWEVER, any night they do not have specific written homework, they should spend 15 minutes studying vocabulary or going to my website to practice grammar.

Absence:
It is the student’s responsibility to get any missed work when they are absent. They can also email me to find out what they are missing. Any missed tests or quizzes need to be made up within one week. They cannot take them during class time, so must make arrangements with me for a time to do so.
