Annual Interfaith Prayer Service

“Together, Through Fellowship We Learn and then Teach” is the Theme of the Interfaith Prayer Service in honor of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther Kings, Jr. is being held at Holy Rosary Church, Sun. Jan. 25th . Music by the Edward Waters College Concert choir begins at 2;30 Please join Bishop Felipe Estevez, Fr. Michael Houle and faith leaders for this dynamic service. All faith communities are invited.

BOWL-A-THON : SAVE THE DATE

St. Pius Home and School’s 2nd annual Bowl-a-thon will be held on Jan. 31st from 3:00 to 5:30pm at the

Batt Family Fun Center; 1838 Cassat Ave. T-shirt order forms must be turned in no later than Friday, January 23rd, pledge sheets must be turned in no later than Monday, January 26th. If you would like to volunteer or have questions concerning the Bowl-A-Thon, please call Mrs. Hice 354-2613.

YEARBOOKS

Orders are being taken for the Mustang Pride. The cost is $20.

If you or your business would like to place an ad in the yearbook the forms are in the school office. Our school yearbook is a great way to get the word out about your church, business, organization or program. It’s also a great opportunity to recognize our graduates!

Activate Your Parent Portal to Renew Registration for 2015-2016

Beginning in February, you will have an opportunity to renew your registration for 2015-2016 online. To be ready:

1.  Activate your Parent Portal account. Go to https://www.plusportals.com/StPiusJax

2.  Your login ID is the email you gave the office

REGISTRATION FOR 2014-15

Registration for the next school year will begin soon for returning families (see information above).You will be able to register any new students after March 1st. If you are a Step Up For Students Family and have not applied for next year, please go on line complete the process. We will advise those who will be eligible next year for the first time for Step Up or VPK, when you will be able to apply. Registration for new families will begin March 3rd.

Alice in Wonderland, Jr.

St Pius 5th grader Jasmine Meriedy is performing with students from San Jose Catholic in the performance of Alice in Wonderland Jr. Travel down the rabbit hole with Alice, the White Rabbit, the Cheshire Cat and all their friends in this amazing rendition of a Disney classic. A limited number of free tickets are available to school families to the first who request them. Tickets can also be purchased online at: http://form.jotpro.com/form/50098370745964.

The performances are Feb. 21st at 4 and 7:30 pm at the Andrew Robinson Auditorium on the campus of UNF.

Report Cards

If you have not returned your Report Card Envelope– Please send it to your child’s teacher.

SUFS Renewal

1. Complete renewal application for the Step Up For Students (SUFS) scholarship for 2015-2016.

2. Watch your email for your Award Letter.

3. New: Parents must pay the $29 application fee within 30 days of the award to access the award letter and reserve the scholarship. If you choose not to pay within the 30 days, the scholarship will be given to another eligible family.

4. Bring a copy of your Award Letter to the office and earn 3 volunteer hours!

Renewal families must submit their application AND required documents by April 30, 2015. Renewal applications will not be accepted after that date. Apply now to secure your 2015-2016 scholarship.

Step Up for Students – New

New families including those who have a child in PK4 this year: If your child is not currently receiving the Step Up For Students scholarship but you are interested in applying for the August 2015 school year, you can sign up for the 2015-16 income-based scholarship interest list online at www.stepupforstudents.org . Applications for new families will be accepted in spring 2015 and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

Explore Test

All students considering attendance at BK or BJJS next year must take the EXPLORE Test on Saturday, Jan. 24. Doors open at 7:45 a.m. Students will not be seated for testing after 8:25 a.m. per ACT requirements. For more information call BJJS at 908-8964or BK at 398-7545; or visit the school websites. Students MUST bring:

·  Two #2 pencils

·  Calculator with capabilities: +,-,x, ÷, and square root

·  Social security number

Catholic Schools Week Food Drive: Ramen Noodles

Now through Jan. 30, we welcome your donations of Ramen Noodles to benefit families assisted by Catholic Charities. Send donations to your child’s classroom. Donations brought to the office should be marked with your child’s name & grade.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK JAN 27 TO JAN 31

Theme: Faith, Knowledge, Service.

We live our Faith in God though our actions, prayers and love of self and neighbor.

Monday-Friday - Food Drive for Catholic Charities. Students, Faculty and Staff bring in Ramen noodles. The Faculty and Staff have challenged the students to see who can bring in the most packages of noodles.

Monday – Friday bring in your pennies. The money collected will be used for altruistic projects.

Monday – Friday: School wide – Bible Bingo

Tuesday: BKHS science class students will present to middle students on making good life choices

Wednesday: Silly Sock Day: Students may wear silly socks with their school uniform.

Friday: Special Catholic School Week Liturgy

Friday: Students my wear a college t-shirt/sweatshirt to school. The may wear this with the school uniform or they may pay $1.00 and wear long blue jeans to school.

EARLY DISMISSAL 1:30, Jan. 28 Extended Day is available.
